I don’t think there are any kids in the camp, because what would be the point of having them hidden in the camp when you’re trying to stowaway on a truck.
From my experience of being surrounded by them in Calais, (illegals Sir [zb] thousands of them ) the majority are young males I’d estimate between 15 to 25 years old, there are also a few young women and a few older men, but I’ve never seen a young child with the groups surrounding trucks, I know a few get found in trucks, but I think they’ve been put on further away from Calais probably when the truck is parked for the night.
Frightening images from a drivers point of view. Won’t be long till they cotton on to the trailer brake button or pulling out the red airline, then there will be drivers at knife point being forced to let them on board.
The more desperate these people are allowed to get, the more danger drivers are in.

The French government wasn’t really bothered about, having the camp in Calais wasn’t seen as a problem for them, after all the inhabitants are there to get to the UK, so will no longer be a french problem if they succeed and anyway Calais far enough away from Paris and the wealthy areas of France for the French government to be able to ignore them.
The camp is now so big, it will take a major force to clear it, thousands of Police or Soldiers, a Smaller camp near Dunkirk was cleared a few weeks ago and it took a lot Police to shift the 2 or 3 hundred inhabitants, and all that will happen is they’ll scatter round France and then drift back to the ports or cause problem round France.
If they’ve walked from Syria, Afghanistan or God knows where then the little hike to Zeebrugge or Oostende wont present them with many problems or even Europoort for that matter

If the situation was slightly different and they were camped in Hollyhead or somewhere similar trying to get to Ireland, woudl you think a London based government would be to worried about clearing them?

What makes you think that isn’t happening to some extent, when I was living near the North Norfolk coast there were always rumours of boats coming ashore on deserted beaches late at night?

I ‘drive’ what used to be an inter island ferry in Greece, wonder what the going rate would be, our car deck is big enough for about 12 or so artics comfortably spaced so plenty of standing room.

The whole thing is very organised, I hope they’re searching cars into the ports as well as trucks, especially those Do gooders going over with supplies for them. And give them a bit more than a £2000 fine, after all a lot different having a couple buried in a truck than having 2 in the boot I mean you can hardly say they you didn’t know they weren’t there.
It has been going on for years, Parkade in the centre of Rotterdam used to be one of the boarding places, one trafficker was a Greek that I knew. During the 80’s the per person rate was between £1000 to £1250 and landed in quiet east coast ports, Antwerp docks was another boarding point. And there must have been loads of others unbeknown to me. One skipper owner during the eighties made enough money to finance a brand new 1000 tonner, and he wore more gold rings bracelets etc than H Samuels !

Meanwhile, you’ve got countries that are supposed to be our allies sending them over here in the first place - instead of housing them themselves (looks good on the application for full EU membership I would have thought…) or sending them to the wealthy Arab Oil states - who’ve strangely taken on near zero of these refugees, and prefer to donate to ISIS instead, driving more and more people over here, some ISIS infiltrators among them to boot.
There is insufficient capacity with the rest of the ports to manage the freight traffic if they shut the tunnel. 2014, the tunnel took just shy of 1.5 million trucks.
The recent upgrade of security at Eurotunnel has cost them £85 million with 29 kms of fencin, infra-red, deforestation round the area, new parking, extra security etc etc. I wouldn’t like to be footing that bill, especially after the losses it has sustained this year.
We ended up with 18 in the back of one of ours 6 weeks ago. Looks like we’ve dodged a bullet -police were great and reckoned no further action.
