How do the eastern euro boyo`s do it?

With low rates or sometimes hauling it for free to get home or the next re-load point, how do some have new and modern trucks and trailers, long term loan/HP/finance,some poor soul has to pay for it.Does the UK have a Turkish invasion,i have seen them a lot,Mars,is one,red wagons, driver with compulsory moustache required by law,and a kitchen strapped to the side of the trailer with a picnic table and set of chairs for the Turkish lorry driving community. And a satelite dish the size of a Sputnik, beam me up Scotty type. And an aerial the size of the Eiffel tower. With 60 feet of power cable, the trailer has a generator power unit in tow.

Toby, no-one will be hauling for MARS and doing it for free, if they do not have any work they stay where they are, not run home to see the kids or the wife.

I have never seen a Turk sat at a picnic table yet. I have seen hundreds sat on a small stool that seems more compulsory than a moustache.

Some drivers I have seen tend to wear dirty t shirts, shorts, sandals and socks. They normally gather in one area and lock up their lorries and disappear for a meeting, during that meeting they always seem to have a shouting competition, at the end of the meeting they come out into the open and have a 3 man tag fight with what looks like one hand behind their back.

After about 30 minutes these drivers normally fall over and sleep by their trailer wheels, the next day these same men go back for another indoor meeting and then have another fight. I read on a turkish forum that these drivers were British

How many milligrammes are you on now?

More tea vicar.

The emerging EU nations probably get grants to operate trucks. When Spain entered the EU anybody with an HGV was given a new truck & didn’t have to start making repayments for 5 years to get them on their feet. So…they based their rates on fuel only & cornered the market. After 5 years the EU wanted the monthly repayments. The Spanish had a national truck strike & got the trucks for free. One firm ‘Caudettes’ had a few old Pigasso’s rolling around & then hey presto - new fleet of Scanias with fridge trailers to match. Suddenly they changed to the new FH’s. All for free ,& that goes for the new road network as well.Happy days?

no, they just have a willing and able workforce who operate at lower costs than the old europe does. which is the reason for bringing them into the EU in the first place.

Britain also has a willing and able workforce. The problem with bringing in two or more country’s into the same economic mix is that the wages drop to the lower level and other costs at home stay the same. It is always going to work in favour of the cheaper cost country’s.

Is Euro work that difficult? If EE’s do it then going by experience of them over here it can’t be that difficult!
Just saying!! :grimacing:

Yes correct what Malc said, Turks seem have own rule - must have a kitchen cabinet box on every trailer and tiny folder seat! but not sure about moustache! its seem almost all Turks drivers got moustache!

Most of Turks drivers I have spoken to them, they seem unhappy with their pay, a Turk driver work for Ikra with fancy yellow axor truck told me his salary pay is too small! he mean its not enough money, 500 Euros a month so I told him try to find other firm who pay decent money, he said no all Turkey firms pay bad money for trucks drivers!

same thing as Willi Betz Romanian drivers, he doing driving from Romania to France to Romania as autotransporter work, he said his pay is no good - Little! I told him - find other firms to get better pay, He said no one truck driver can get better pay!

There are seem similar situation as here, British truck drivers salary goes downhill and same as Eastern European trucks driver pay are not good enough to them even Iranian drivers are not happy with their wages during long distance work to Europe from Iran. I guess all down to greedy people who run the business and put down price low rate! that’s why lots drivers go hunt to find better pay in different countries

Fair play to them, doing their bit for Movember.

So Turks are also eastern europeans now?

I think you should set some boundaries to which countries go in the eastern europe block.

as part of Turkey is in Europe I would say they are one of the the most eastern of all European countries

I can’t see the fuss here. They are all very organised. They have everything they need to make the long haul comfortable. I think jealousy plays a big part here. I wish I had their equipment and the space. Plus, they are ALL sociable. They sit/talk/play cards/whatever together.
How many of us are anti-social, curtain closing ,tv watching hermits? :unamused:

Not in the club in any way, shape or form.

I agree with Bigvern on this and don,t knock the Turks, i know them and they are good men not to be associated, with the newcomer eastern blockers. Or as Andrew W Young used to say

(they are good friends but very bad enemies)

Re

Anti social, curtain closing,tv watching hermits.

I was in truckhaven Carnforth last night at 8pm, 150 trucks in the parking and 15 drivers sitting alone on as many tables.
give me the french way anytime with the tables full and people talking to each other,The Les routiers moto is

You will never eat alone

.

So who are the newcomers?

The ones that appeared from behind that wall or iron curtain, that have fffffffffffffd the haulage rates and wages ever since they apeared on this side,we have seen a downturn of most of our perks since the their arrival eg,free meals on ferrys, parking in germany, truck crime increase, ect, the turks have been here a lot longer, and they never rated the eastern blockers either. They do not steal or stink.
Klunk

Have had a meal or two with Ulusoy drivers on the Ostend boats.True gentlemen.Always wearing suits for some reason :unamused: .Some of the old commie bloc firms always seemed to have good honest drivers.Hungaro,Sovtrans etc.Saw a couple of Deutrans(remember them??) drivers. Not very talkative. The influx of the new ‘privat’ companies have certainly messed it all up.Anyway Riho,a strange question really

Sir, you are right i should not be tarring them all with the same brush, i have had a lot of of contact with the polish /Hungarian drivers and they are good hard working lads, and also the Sovitrans Russians drivers were spot on,Its the Balkan ones that let them down,Rumanian,Bulgarian. But maybe i am wrong as they have changed since i drove through these sss holes of countries in the 80s,I don,t think so :frowning:

Deutrans mmm, The trucks they drove were crap, but good lads all the same.Always wearing black leather jackets when abroad maybe nastazi■■?

Well thats why dont put so many countries in one bucket.

And speaking about the industry, we live in a free-market economy, so its not to blame them, if there were regulations which prohibited to cut under the prices it would be different, and there is no point to blame anyone in the whole situation.

If you would need to repair your car would you go to a dealer or take it down to a local garage, where they would do the same job, in the same quality(no point now to argue that eastern europeans do a ■■■■ job, because there is no proof for that) but for half of the price that the dealer would charge you?

I think any person/company would choose the cheapest way to do the job, to save money or increase profits.

I think orys has a new user name
