How did you get your job

Just wondering how you got your job that your in now, was it perseverance, right place right time or just ■■■■ right lucky.

right place, at home. Now a carer

Saw an advert on indeed, sent an email and a copy of my cv, they rang asking me to attend an interview, I went & after they explained the job asked if I was interested, I said yes & they offered me it there & then. Sometimes it really is that simple.

Sent in my CV.
Invited for an interview.
Started job.

^^^^^^Ditto, caring for my wife. The money aint much but I get to legally sleep with my gaffer!

Pete.

Good question…
My current situation was a bit of a reccomendation from another driver then assesment and offered the job before the assesment was even completed, probably a bit of a formality but apperently my standard of driving is rare…still not sure if thats good or bad though…

First job I had that lasted 10 years was more a natural progression, school, joy riding at 12 -15 (i’ve lost a few coppers over fields back in the day before thermal camera stuff), college, trainee in office (hated it) then found myself in the transport dept delivering the odd fleet car then van driver to driving trucks round the yard at every opportunity, to test to job…

agreadd Pete

Word of mouth, one boss to another.

Same here. They even held up for a driving assessment as I was post op for 2 weeks before I could drive …

The most important job of all IMHO… moving stuff about in trucks pales into insignificance when our loved ones need us… well done to you both.
Edit: apologies if this comes over as a tad patronising

The job I’m in now (until Friday) I did before and was asked to go back but as a regular driver. My new job, I temp’d for them when out of work and was told I’d be given first refusal when a job came up. Two years on they kept their word. :sunglasses:

Told them I was there bestest driver in all the worlds and advised them to snap me up immediately before someone else did…

Not really, worked in the warehouse paid for my own class 2 then they took me on the driving side, gave me the experience and they also paid for my class one training and test…been there 10 years now my only driving job.

Me and my M8 working for same company, he told me about advert in paper we both got interviews.I got the job he didn’t still here after 14 years.

Fired off hundreds of cv’s, they emailed me back, interviewed then offered the job (only because they were desperate).

My previous employer was a customer of the current employer, I was sounded out about a move, I went to an interview on neutral ground(pub  ) and handed in my 6 weeks notice the next day.

Knocked on door on the off chance, month later i’m in, best job i’ve ever had.

Lucky? yes very, appreciate it though and do my best.

Saw a sign outside the company & grabbed an application form, returned it with my CV & got a call 1 hour later from the TM, saying that he’d like a chat with me, he offered me the job during the interview (subject to an assessment)

Been there 2 years & I do the assessments now (must be doing something right) recently been asked if I might like to go into the office in the near future, but I quite like being out on the road at the minute. (Let’s see what the winter brings, lol)

Same here, I always get the emails from there for hgv in my town and when my current job popped up I sent an email and that was it.

I had class 1 but was stuck in a rigid only place. Applied online and had a call about a month later for interview & assessment. Got the job and the company was bought out 10 months later, new contract etc.

was riding shotgun with a mate when unemployed
did the odd days for firm and went with others drivers
to help out when they had ropey jobs…
my mate got the sack…his fault and 3 weeks
later boss rang asking for I would like a job
