dozy:
Daughter ( nurse ) sent home & told to isolate , had covid positive patients on
Ward for 2 weeks , full ppe , paranoid about washing clothes , hands & seems she
Still got it
Worrying times
I think there’s lots we aren’t being told about the virulence and contagion of this thing to maintain order. These patients should be in proper HLIU facilities. As usual no resources and even if there was the establishment wouldn’t want to draw attention to its incompetence and complicity in bringing this into the country.
She’s had enough, she’s in pain, and she’s waiting for a hospital bed. Although we both know, that that is as much her doctor’s wish, as it is an attempt to give her comfort…
Trying to carry on, when you know you’re not going to get out on the other end, is terrible. Having to watch it, is …
I dont know. It’s horrible, but not as bad as the one who is dying?
Sorry to read this ND. I hope it goes along as well as can be expected.

Thanks. She’s actually a bit on the mend since yesterday, today she’s up and pottering about a bit. It’s an up and down, hopefully she’s going to have a bit of an up for a while , but it’s hard, because we both know that she’ll inevitably will go downhill again.

Thank Rob. Turns out, the apparent upturn was a bit of a trojan horse. Wont bother ya’ll with boring details, but let’s just say that things are not getting any better.
You’re not putting a damper on me. I’m so sorry to read this
Is there anything I can do to help? (Sorry for the silly question)
Years ago one of my nieces needed a heart and lung transplant but they decided that she was too ill to be put through the operation. It was horrible to watch and I have every sympathy for you.
Seriously ill on a hospital ward with a Corona patient a few doors down when I started showing a couple of symptoms. Let me tell you the 2 days waiting for the test result to come back knowing a positive would almost certainly mean a death sentence for me in my weakened state were THE 2 most terrifying days of my life.

Bigtruck3: Condolences to all the people who lost family but how close has it come to you
.WTF has it got to do with you FFS ■■?
Bit morbid aren’t you ? You are actually asking people to post on here their experiences of this virus
and how it has affected them !! Give me a break!!
and no offence Rich, but there’s enough doom and gloom on the TV without bringing it on here
How is it that these pandemics and epidemics never reach the lunatic fringe? Those who wear tinfoil hats? The conspiracy theoretician? The man on the Clapham omnibus? We have a few on here who believe every word that comes out of their own mouths!
For perspective,
Spanish Flu 50.000.000 - Fifty Million People
Holocaust 11.000.000 - Eleven Million People (5,933,900 Jews) The rest were non Jews.
Road Accident Deaths 1.35 Million People.
Queue for Herald of Free Enterprise. - Still Growing.
switchlogic:
After my accident learning to stand and walk again but doing OK, esp now I’m out of hospital at my Mums
Good to see…
You back again.
I expect a video on Ytube in the next few months of you doing an entire hog roast using one small saucepan, a pair of tongs and a bottle opener in a Transit Van.
simple question was posed as to how this virus may have been close, or even lost relatives etc to it, so i dont think answers like none of your business or words to that effect were necessary. If someone want to answer in a sensible manner, let them do so if they wish, and i have lost some dear friends along the way, and some of them truck drivers too, it has impacted me in a sorrow way, but not directly, even though i am classed as vulnerable with heart and lung conditions, we are all vulnerable, young, old alike, and all have to obey the rules where we can of staying at home, and i applaud everyone working from the NHS to truck drivers, supermarket workers, the postman and others too many to mention but i applaud you all for the great work in keeping us safe, to keeping us supplied.

I’m certainly not one to talk about my deeper feeling or concerns, prefering to keep myself to myself, but recently I’ve realised that sometimes, dealing with something on your own, can make things worse. I have certainly benefitted from speaking more seriously with my “mother in law” recently.
My other half is somewhat similar, in that she needs at least one transplant, and other major surgery, but even if the opportunity arose, she is too weak to go through the operation and recovery process. We often remark, that if she was a beloved pet, we would have done the kind thing, and ended the suffering.
That’s like saying Concorde wasn’t that quick because it travelled slower than the average car while it was taxiing to the runway and at the start of its takeoff run.
If you’re planning on using a bioweapon to massacre the western population and you don’t want any retaliation.Best make sure it doesn’t leave the starting block like an Exocet by wiping them all out in 3 months. As opposed to a year or preferably two to maintain the plausible deniability narrative.
Infected rose from 48,031 on March 10 to 1,151,564 on April 9.
‘New’ cases rose from 4,567 on March 10 to 101,680 on April 3 back to 85,568 April 9.
New ‘recoveries’ rose from 2,565 on March 10 to 26,080 on April 9.
Serious critical cases rose from 5,748 on March 10 to 49,126 April 9
Total deaths rose from 4,926 on March 10 to 95,693 on April 9
That’s one month of figures good luck with 12 months let alone 24.Bearing in mind that new cases who eventually die won’t show up in the deaths figure for around two weeks or so and no one has actually confirmed that ‘recovery’ means naturally immune clear of virus no longer infectious. While deaths are clearly outrunning critical.
Whatever the source with an estimated 3-4 week period between contracting the virus then either recovery or death we are sowing the seeds planted by those folks fannying round last month.
I would expect daily figures to run between 700-1000 for the next few days then begin a slow downward trend towards the end of the week with the odd fluctuation.
Providing the great unwashed don’t create a mass gathering risk over Easter I’d anticipate lockdown restrictions being reduced in steady stages early May.
The fear of this virus touching my family is real, trying not to get to hysterical about it and my coping mechanism at the moment is vodka and catching up on various vintage tribbing vids…

What changes if/when they allow everyone to gather as usual in May or now. It’s like saying Measles wouldn’t have been a problem if no one went to school and kept away from each other for a month.
The devil is in those figures. It’s not just the amount of cases or new cases or deaths it’s their relationship to ‘recoveries’ that matters and that’s what the government is scared of.They’ve seen a problem with recovering from this thing they’re not worried about its transmission. That problem ain’t going to go away in May or next year.
