In answer to OP.
Can’t be bothered.
just let the licence etc lapse.
A company we sub contract on runs courses and are going to sort us out, I’m not sure if all 5 days worth will be done there, but most will for sure, the only problem is we have all done the same courses already as part of the on the job training so will have to repeat them which is a complete waste of my time and their resorses, but hey ho, who am I to complain, it is just the company are getting penalised for doing the training in the first place as far as I’m concerned
Sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but does anyone know if time spent on C+E training (if you already had C before Sept 09) counts towards CPC hours?

Are you on about out on the road or classroom training?

If the TC was already JAUPT Approved, then it may be possible but I doubt a company is going to apply for your DCPC when they can recharge you to do it again. I will watch this thread with interest.

Good question! I was assuming ‘on the road’, because that’s all I was thinking the C+E training would consist of after you already had C.
All I really meant was '“f I go and do 16hrs or whatever of training for C+E (I already have C), does that count as 16 hours of CPC time?” (Obviously subject to the training co having the right accreditation, etc).

I would doubt that very much, it is more about job skills than driving skills from what I can gather

NO it does not.
CE licence aquisition is where the driver is under instruction and not training (pedantic but that’s the way it is) with a view to passing a test - I did ask JAUPT about this some time ago and I put forward the argument about the ADR being similar (instruction/training issue) but JAUPT were steadfast and said NO to the CE !!

NO it does not.
Thanks Roger!
I decided that as I had asked some time ago, I would ask again so I sent an e-mail…
My question —
Would it be possible for the standard C+E licence aquisition course, which is about 16 to 21 hours, to be approved by JAUPT for the periodic driver cpc ?
JAUPT answer -
The training used in preparation for the C+E licence acquisition could be used as Periodic Training however it is difficult to say without reviewing the course content. The course will need meet the requirements/terms & conditions in order to obtain approval therefore I can only suggest that you submit the application and JAUPT will process and review. If the course is not satisfactory JAUPT will work with you to get it to a stage where it can be approved.

hopefully the next job I get will be with a firm that looks after its drivers and is prepared to put them through, however at the moment my priority is finding a job after the shock news earlier in the week.Ultimatly I can see the jobcentre funding the training for some people.
youll be looking a long time
Hmm so if i was to do an ADR the hours would count towards the CPC? Did not know that if im reading this right.

Hi Sparks,
What you’ve said would be right if the ADR provider is also JAUPT approved and registered, but it’s not always automatically the case.
The other thing is the small issue of the extra cost, because ADR can be taken without DCPC if you wish.
As a rough guideline, I’d say that you should be paying around £450ish for ADR and around £75ish for the 21 hours DCPC.
I’ve left out discussion of the tanker module, which could get you another 7 hours DCPC with some providers. Not all providers have registered the tanker module for DCPC due to the extortionate charges by JAUPT and the low retention rate of drivers completing the normal ADR course and opting to stay and take the 1.5-day tanker module.
I hope that helps.
Good news is, iin the unlikely event that you fail the ADR course, if it is JAUPT approved it is still counted towards the DCPC
Already done 3 days of it paid for by the firm, even paid for the time to attend the course
Thats great, makes the idea of having to pay out cash for a cpc much more palatble if your actually getting something usefull out of it.
Nothings been said where i work i have a feeling there going to leave it till as late as possible and hope the drivers just do it on their own back, i suspect a lot of companys have the same philosphy, do they think if they ignore it long enough it will go away lol?
I know of 4 drivers myself that are thinking of either retiring early or doing something else if the company won’t pay on principle mainly.
I see many problems ahead when this comes in hehe.
Thnx Sparks
I’m just not gonna bother…this job is getting too much hassle now, thats why I packed it in in January
I know a man

They paid for mine … Some money spinner when it COSTS them money
I wasn’t going to pay for it, but I was considering doing my adr, then hopefully getting into a job that would’ve paid for it.
But, as I was out of work, I put a claim in, they asked if I had any Q’s, and I asked about training and they said there was a course starting monday, and got me on it.
My current employer put all our drivers through the cpc, but tbh it’s just another sleath tax against a profession already on it’s knee’s, we as drivers subscribe more than most to the coffers, but get penalised every single day.
The consensus between our brigade = it’s just a common sense certificate at a silly price.
