Horse burgers.

Seagoon:
You have got to admire his assertion that “The Government are putting offal in the Burgers”. That takes talking rubbish to a whole new level  :open_mouth:

In which case the government won’t mind making it law that a clear description of exactly what’s in all burgers has to be given at point of sale or put on the packaging. :smiling_imp:

Carryfast lecturing us on the finer points the meat industry now. Another area in which I’m sure he has a wealth of knowlege.

I’m no expert but it’s not me who’s lost 60,000,000 Euro’s worth of business and put 140 jobs on the line by using dodgy ‘beef’ supplies. When how difficult can it be to make sure that it’s beef that’s going into the burgers not horsemeat in two countries which have the best beef growing land in the world.

As for ‘value’ or economy burgers I’d expect even the cheapest to be made from proper ground beef from a cut like brisket etc.Not beef offal let alone horsemeat although it’s arguable wether prime cut of horse would be preferable to using beef offal if the currency isn’t worth enough now to use reasonably decent beef in even so called ‘value’ burgers.

Although it doesn’t take a genius to realise that if they can get away with putting horse or offal into value burger meat supplies then how long before someone gets the idea of trying the same thing in even the more expensive burgers considering that the rate of domestic horse slaughter being increased by such levels while beef exports are also growing at record levels seems more than a coincidence to me.

I haven’t got the time or effort to correct you on that load of tripe. Boom tish. You clearly don’t have a clue about that industry either so why don’t you stop pretending you do eh? Fat chance of that though.

Yep spot on. Begs the question which government? Since most of this beef came from ireland so his assertion that this country exports all the good beef to get foreign money in is clearly misinformed rubbish too.

Errrrr, that’s already law. That’s the exact reason this became a problem. Not because there was a danger to the public, there wasn’t, but because there were ingredients not listed in the burgers. Sorry your daft conspiracy theory has fallen down this time. Stick to justifying why you ■■■■ after children instead. Although you weren’t much cop at either.

As I said we’ve got some of the best beef producing land in the world and our beef exports obviously prove it.Then we import burgers from Ireland which have horsemeat in them that’s supposed to be imported from Poland. So you’re saying our government aren’t responsible for what’s being imported and ending up in the British food market.Which would obviously make the idea of a ‘food standards agency’ pointless. :bulb: :unamused:

In addition to which would obviously fit the description of British beef being exported while our own people eat zb horsemeat and/or beef etc offal. Not forgetting the question as to the reaons for the large increase in the rate of domestic horse slaughter.

So you’re saying that it’s law that the difference between beef offal or prime beef is given on the packaging of all burgers which was my point not the difference between horse and beef. While it’s equally obvious that there is a demand for horse meat products in the Britsh meat market and that horse meat must end up going somewhere. So exactly where and which products contain it clearly marked as such.

Carryfast:

Yes, perhaps you may want to actually read up on this subject before you make pointless misinformed posts. But then that’s not like you is it. You can’t even put mechanically recovered meat in a product unless it’s labelled as such.

only in the mind of a conspiracy theorist. Those of us who have experience of the meat industry (or in fact just read the news properly) know that this isn’t the case.

I suggest that it’s you who needs to read up on the subject.Section 13.7.Which part of ‘‘Offal does not fall within the scope of Beef Labelling’’ Mixing of beef with offal is permitted and the ‘‘mince would need to be labelled with the compulsory indications for ( just ) mince’’ don’t you understand. :unamused:

And would you like to post this proof you have of a big internal market for horsemeat in the UK? You do realise that it was mosly horse DNA found not horsemeat, which came from binding products
