Horrified!!!

Hi Folks, bit of a rant… sorry!!!

Traveled from Jct 15 M74(s) along the A701 to Dumfries this morning at around 4-5am, I sat with cc on at 40mph, I caught up with a slower moving Tesco truck few miles outside Dumfries… No hassle, I enjoyed the company lol shortly after this I had a tanker up my ■■■, sitting out a bit so his light was in my mirror… No hassle, guy is a ■■■!!!

On my return journey up the A701 towards the M74(n), same scenario, 40mph using cc, I caught up with a slower moving Brake Bros. truck… No hassle…Never in a hurry…

Out of one of the roads leading off to the right, some where along the A701, me and the BB motor pass a artic tipper waiting to emerge. Soon after we pass, he is up my arse, then amazingly attempted to overtake, I went on the brakes, he went hard on the brakes and went back in behind me. I thought, bit more of a gap between me and the BB motor is in order, to give this lunatic somewhere to go, incase he tries to overtake again…

Baring in mind, its just after 6am and pitch black. The three of us, BB, Me and him are going down a hill, the tipper decides to over take me, so as soon as I saw him out, I gently braked, giving him more space between me and BB, so he can pull back in… Did he ■■■■ pull back in!!! Now on a upward gradient and approaching a right hand bend, the absolute Rick head is still trying to overtake BB, the utter Tw4t just got the front of his unit over the white line before the corner. Had anything came round that corner, I would bet my balls there would have been fatalities, someones loved ones would not have walked through the door that evening!!!

Its been on my mind all day, it was like something you would see on Youtube in China or Russia, not on UK roads. Just couldn’t believe the disregard for human life this driver must have had to make such a manoeuvre.

If I was the supreme ruler, I’d have jailed him for that!!!

Rant over, Feel a wee bit better :frowning:

like the signs say "Allow overtaking frustration causes accidents " .if your both running at less than 40 I wouldn’t expect anything less than dangerous manoeuvres .

Tipper drivers, the missing link…

I would bet a weeks wages that he is one of those ■■■■ Whits who drives everyday like that as a matter of course, and cannot see anything wrong with it. In his ■■■■ for a brain logic YOU will be in the wrong for driving to the legal limit and holding him back from earning an illegal bonus on the wage that him and his mates have driven down to the minimum by achieving near hand impossible schedules that his boss has set him to justify the ■■■■ poor rate he has charged in order to get the job in the first place, it’s a pity he didn’t put himself in a ditch and come a cropper to get the ■■■■ off the roads and make things safer for everybody else.

get yourself a camera, and then report the knobhead if he happens to be behind you in the future and tries something just as stupid.

Agree.

Just remember to complain to the local Traffic Commisioner so the knobhead has his license revoked for some time. Reporting to his TM will make no difference.

Sounds a bit like the idiot I saw earlier

On a main road a bus had stopped and 2 cars were waiting behind then this hook grab lorry decided to over take the lot if them with on coming cars
just as he pulls out the bus starts moving the lorry just carries on nearly take the side of the bus out and missing the on coming car by about 10ft he then goes flat out down the road

Was it a blue Renault, G6Bob? No probably not; a bit far north for them I suppose.

At that time of day, he was probably rushing to be the first to get loaded somewhere. On tipper work, it’s vitally important that you’re the first lorry in when somewhere opens in a morning. Human life is of no importance whatsoever. You must be first at all costs. Failure to be first may result in a delay of up to five minutes.

I know of a tipper outfit (OK walking floor but same difference) that only pay Mon to Fri salary. Some of the superstars there will run on a Sunday UNPAID to be …first in the queue Monday morning :open_mouth: you couldn’t make it up  knobs of the highest order and degree :unamused:

You say that even on cc at 40mph you catch both trucks up  that would suggest the other trucks are going slower than 40mph  I would suggest that the bb truck could have poss slowed up even more and let the hell driver out, knowing he was only going to sit at less than 40mph and avoided any hassle, but no even at 5/6am you catch up on the 40mph drivers who for mile after mile go past every layby and don’t pull in.yes 40mph is the law but the law is soon to change not a moment to soon imo,i don’t wear this paid buy the hour crap that they all claim if so why not pull into every layby and let traffic past and waste more time, dare I suggest that even when limit is 50mph you will still have the same folk driving along at 40mph holding up mile after mile of traffic coz there paid by the hour :exclamation: not that long ago a9 south a car overtook me then later tried to pass the queue in front caused buy a 40 mph truck mile after mile passing layby after layby car driver went for it had to pull into layby entrance on opp side to avoid head on with another car :exclamation: 40mph man couldn’t care less to the hassle and frustration they cause and then ■■■■ off up hills and dual c/ways at 56mph gets on ma ■■■■ rant over

OMFG :open_mouth: Less than 40mph?! Or in other words, within the speed limit?

You’re quite correct. That is much worse than dangerous overtaking. :unamused:

neverhome73:
dare I suggest that even when limit is 50mph you will still have the same folk driving along at 40mph holding up mile after mile of traffic coz there paid by the hour :exclamation: :

And dare I suggest that when the limit is 50mph you will still have the retards that are so thick, that they don’t get that you are meant to drive a truck in a different way to driving a car (yeh seriously you lot, you are :bulb: :unamused: ) sat on the limiter all day on A roads whatever the road conditions or however dodgy the A road may be…because it’s legal.

Yes, even at 40 mph I caught up with both trucks, It would definitely suggest they were doing less than 40… I’m not familiar with the road, but certainly seemed that lybys were few and far between, anyone who knows the road better could let us know, had I been given a chance to pull in, I’d have been out this guys was in a jiffy

No, I think it was a white MAN or Scanny, with a Blue stripe up the door, with the name written in white, inside the blue stripe. Yeah he didn’t care whos wife came round that corner taking their kids to grannys or nursery or where ever.

If I had even got a company name, or a reg number I would have reported it. I know its probably his TM that is pushing him to risk peoples lifes.

I wouldn’t care if we were both running at 10 mph, risking lifes like that is inexcusable, and is even worse, in my opinion, by a professional driver of a large vehicle.

I think it’s “job and knock” tipper mentality.

I’ve driven for both Brakes and Tescos - and being paid by the hour, I’m happy to take my time.
I’ve never been offered a tipper job on agency though… and I’m happy not to have been.
Doubtless, me attempting to “take my time” would see me being shouted at when I got back to the yard, having made the opposite shift driver “wait” to get “his” tractor back! :imp:

I don’t suffer fools… My retort would be a racing certainty to get me banned from site, since the local TM would have to be seen to “back his own full time driver over the agency scumbag”… The usual spiel.

Other firms that seem to have “job and knock” mentality are TNT, Stobarts, and of course anything with foreign plates… :unamused:
Around here, there doesn’t seem to be much agency work to be had on TNT, Stobarts, and Eurotramps respectively… I wonder why?! :smiling_imp:

He probably knew the road like the back of his hand and knew it would be ‘‘safe’’ to overtake at this point (perhaps)

Its incidents like this why the 50mph speed limit is coming in and the quicker the better.

+1

The tipper driver, like many of his tipper mates, shouldn’t be on the road. They’re a bunch of desperate cowboy tossers. There should be something done about the way they operate their bonus systems as everyone knows how much of a menace they are on the roads.

I can agree it was probably safe to overtake me at this point… but to continue to over take up hill, and just get the front of his vehicle back in before a right hand bend… back of his hand or not, I can’t see how he could have predicted nothing was coming

I had a similar incident a few months ago about 4am with a bulk tipper on the A66. Me, eastbound just past Warcop army base approaching the bend (double white lines, I think on bend), 2 sets of headlights come round bend, B***** Bulk over taking an Argos. Had to hit brakes but far enough away not to need emergency stop or swerve. What also annoyed me, HE was only 2 minutes away from a dual carriageway section!
