well ya wouldnt want a warm beer wud ya??
When I ordered these lorries new from Scania in the 70’s, the plastic visor was
obviously a sun visor,.
The steel one was listed as a “snow shield” for which there was a hand wheel control in the inside for tilt adjustment.
Anyone else wanna have a go ■■?
Theres one up for grabs on Ebay
never heard that before about the visor/snowshield being adjustable.was it just a wee windy handle on the inside ?
It was approximately a 3" hand wheel that came out of the top shelf.
It went right through onto the bar that the visor hung on and it had cog wheels on it.
The visor could have been wound right down almost tight to the wondowscreen.
It was an expensive extra then, but it had to be factory fitted as it wasn’t a retro fit.
so you specced it then, why no roof rack or the wee window in the door ? oh and could you get the metal visor without the adjuster?
Hi Glenman
I am posting a photo of a Scania which I bought second hand with a retro fit steel visor.
The same visor was fitted on the Leyland Marathon.
The lorry and trailer had to have the roof rack and ladders to get up to the fridge motor.
About the window in the door - this only came in the super deluxe version which had a plusher inside and was only left hand drive.
Norman McKee, from Kilkeel had one which he sold to Kenny Liggett.
Wilbert Ewing drove it for Kenny
i think you are waffling hh,the rack and ladder were just to look cooler. i think i can remember a white and blue 141 from comber way,was trans frigo i think, the owner im near sure was called dennis mckeag and it had the wee door mirror and rack and ladder and it just looked more exotic back then.
No, Glenman, you definitely needed the roof rack and ladders on as those small fridge motors gave bother.
You are right about the one from Comber, it was Dennis McKeags.
He’s up and down the hill at Mallusk on a regular basis with a flashy Scania with vertical pipes and a tipping trailer.
yes i see him about, got a few tippers,i think until recently the scania he drove was a left ■■■■■■ .

You all need a poke in the eye if u think they are good looking how to balls up a scania and there should be a law about taking bits off a 3 series and nailing them on a 4series
