Home is a layby on the a9

someone asked a while ago about the guy in the merc car parked on the a9 well heres his story dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scott … ng-2364285

Sad story, there’s also someone living in a black Vauxhall Vectra in the large lay by on the left on the A350 between the M4 and Chippenham.

He’s been there a few years now, looks like he has all his attire in his car with him, looks as snug as a bug in a rug bless him

If i remember correctly i first spotted him about 5 yrs ago but he’s not always there so maybe he works some kind of shift pattern and only sleeps there during his working week.

This has just reminded me of a guy who had this sort of situation In Telford. He lived in his 12 plate volkswagon passat estate which was attached to a small box trailer with hippy spray painting all over it. In that trailer he had a brand new Ducati 848 evo! :open_mouth:

I never did get to talk to him, last seen about 3 months ago parked round stafford park near DHL . Anyone see him? He was in in the lay-bys around Telford for at least 5 months.

5 yrs seems about right, seems a nice chap spoken to him in passing but that’s all

Yes i’ve seen him a while ago. A lot harder living on the A9 than staying near Telford! If I was up that way I would certainly be stopping by with a coffee.

What a shame, hope he gets looked after because the winters we’ve been having lately it wont be easy

Fair play to the bloke, if anyone stops there chuck him a gas canister or tin of grub.

Wouldn’t he get enough for that merc to buy a small car and a caravan ?

That is a sad story indeed.

There is a guy in a Ford Transit camper van between Aylesbury and Bicester who moves between the laybys , been on that stretch of road for the last three years nearly constantly…perhaps a builder on the big new housing estate just up the road ?
Or just one of lifes characters.

I read this story ,how come people who have contributed through out their lives are not helped by the government…Afterall illegal immigrants etc are practically given a choice of where they want to live ,size of house and anything else they so wish

will add if e is an ex mechanic ,couldn’t he fit a night heater…I know there is costs involved ,but if he is still there come winter it would be a godsend .

It must be six or seven years ago there was a guy living in a red fiesta in the layby between Wangford and Frostenden on the A12. He must of been there for a good six months, unfortunately the local rag ran an article about him living there and someone went and put all the windows in and he disappeared after that. Was passing the other day and wondered what happened to him.

That’s ok Norb if he fixes the water pump first,I’d sell the merc and get a van or caravan and fit a wood burner.

Where’s he going to get the wood from ?

I don’t get it, that Merc must be worth at least £3,000 so if he sold it and slept on a park bench he would be far better off than a “homeowner” who is in £50,000 of negative equity?

He looks a bit like me, don’t you think?

Firstly wood…on the A9■■ Plentiful.
Secondly, park bench? Quite cold in the part of world he is, car, bench, whatever.

Dave the Renegade:
Where’s he going to get the wood from ?

Trees

But then he has to haul it and cut it. He’s 68 years old and struggling. Surely the authorities could find him an old folks bungalow.
