commonrail:
I take the keys home,so left everything apart from bedding and water ■■■■.
Where I worked if a Driver took the keys home he could expect a phone call telling him to get them back pronto as the motor could not be moved in sort of emergency.
Tony R:
What the hell do drivers carry in personal belongings, that need to take that much time or space to clear a cab.?
for me all i carry is one suitcase & bedding. max 5 mins to clear cab.
There is no way I could live out of a case like that in ‘‘my’’ motor.
I spend more of my life in ‘‘my’’ truck than I ever do at home, so I cover every angle, and make things as comfortable, home like, and as best equipped as I can.
The amount of cack I carry is unreal , I hate changing motors over when my old one goes back.and replaced.
It was worse when I used to change motors abroad for a week or something, it used to take me bloody ages to strip it out and then change it all back back the next time I was over, it was a major operation.
Nowadays unless I know it aint going to be used, I just take out bedding, valuables and potential nick…ables.
I’ve been off since 23 Dec,.and back next Mon,.afaik it is still parked up, but I’ll soon find out.

Can’t you track it while off to see if it moves like Dozy does?
I got back in my unit today. Not only had the lad who has used it for the last month or so kept it clean inside he’s also washed it outside so fair play to him.
Nah even if I could I wouldn’t bother.
Tbf if it is ever used while I’m off, the boss is very selective who he puts on it, usually just a dayman, but if it is a sh. tip I’ll be spending a couple of hours getting paid for sorting it, while the load is getting later and later , but tbf, I don’t think it will come to that.
Coming from another angle, I often do holiday relief 1 or 2 weeks for firms, this year was no exception, among the wagons I used In 2017 that had regular drivers they left a few different things:
Suspicious bucket with bin liner in, had a suspicious smell, certainly wasn’t for waste paper!
Half a bottle of whiskey, in the fridge, that wasn’t whiskey…
23x 2ft by 2ft squares of carpet (in one unit), stuffed under the bunk, on the floor, in the lockers, in the fridge, they were everywhere!! Maybe he was moonlighting as a carpet salesman I never know!
Curtains, now fitted to the vehicle I understand some like frilly curtains, but extra sets in the lockers, under the bunk… really■■?
one unit had 76 Ratchets and 68 straps in, again they were everywhere!! Ive strapped 80+ tonnes of air cargo with less!!
16x Bottles of febreeze… in one unit… I dread to think of this persons BO!
Couple to that several of the wagons had a thick film of sludge and dust over everything and stains all over the matresses! Gipping!! Needless to say that the worst were taken straight to a valeters on route to 1st tip/load Its not hard to clear a locker or 2 out and leave the cab clean, but i really think some folk take ‘tramping’ too literally!
Note - not all are like this i know and many take great pride in their wagons, and i always left them spotless after giving them a full interior and exterior valet before finishing the job!
