Hospital Radio (Anker Radio serving the George Eliot Hospital Nuneaton,
on 1386 am 24 hrs a day)

Always fancied a go at hospital radio, but wouldn’t know where to start.

Ken.

At a hospital?

…wheres me coat

5RRF and CARGOCARGOCARGO Thanks for the comments Lads, its a nice relaxing hobby, ideal for retirement. Eddie.

Like “erfguy” , I enjoy building model trucks , mainly in 1/50 th. scale.
I usually buy the Corgi/Tekno models , then scratchbuild livestock bodies from plastic card /strip.
The older construction designs of the 1950s and 1960s are my preferred choice , - when coachbuilding was craftsmanship.

The 2 red and green Leylands were based upon those owned by W.Smith , from Barry ,Angus.
A Kingfisher Leyland L.A.D. white metal cab was purchased and fitted to the Corgi chassis.

Charles Alexander operated some Leyland Octopus 8 wheelers on livestock haulage during the busy autumn sales each year.
I had difficulty finding the paint to match the Corgi model.

The dark green Albion Super Clydesdale model replicates the full-size Albion owned by Charles Johnston , from Kingswells ,
near Aberdeen.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Not printed yet.
C+E is next week.

I’m asked all the time, ‘What’s your hobbies?’
Well…I’m fortunate to have taken chemistry as a student and one of the things I enjoy most is converting wine, beer, and occasionally hard liquors into urine. It’s rewarding, uplifting, satisfying and fulfilling. I do it every day and I really enjoy it."…

I restore old amusement arcade machines, here’s the one I’m working on at the moment.

I’ve got it all working now, needs some cosmetic work doing next.

Here’s a couple of others I’ve done recently, sorry pics are a bit blurry…

As my TNUK name is “Cattle Wagon Man” , my hobby is the miniature form of the real ones.

I bought this ready-built 1/50 th. scale 1950s Albion model last year , and Im currently scratchbuilding a
livestock float (Scottish name). More work to do , but I took this photograph during a construction test fit.

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

Hi “Ardennes” ,
Thanks for the favourable kind comment.

Im not one for assembling an out-of-the-box` plastic kit. I prefer a challenge to construct something different.
“ERFGuy” is another modeller who chooses the same , and his wonderful scratchbuilt cab constructions, etc., are a must to see.

Ah well,…Id better get back to my hobby , ...............theres a load of sheep to shift as soon as the rear ramp
and roof are assembled and fitted . :unamused:

Cheers , cattle wagon man.

I don’t know if it’s a hobby, more of an interest really, but I like to cook, I’ll go on a cooking website, find something I like the look of and get the ingredients sorted and put my pinny on.

I’ve got quite the spice collection now and have tried things that I wouldn’t usually eat, not as the main ingredient, but stuff that adds to the overall balance of the dish.

I pick up quite a few ideas from the cookery shows on TV.

I even ponce up things like frozen burgers with marinades and spices, it’s surprising what a difference a pinch of this or that can make.

We’ve ended up with a last minute take away a few times when it’s all gone boss eyed, but overall the results have been pretty good, as my ever expanding waistline will testify.

Brilliant work from both you and ERF. Basically grew up in an Albion Clydesdale flat, potatoes out of Lincs and lime out of Dove Holes quarry. Happy days.

This keeps me busy;

Not quite Harry.

Try reading an OS Map at warp factor 10, like I was in the passenger seat in the pic.

At the speeds we were going, any form of dogging action would have been impossible.
