You accused me the other day Luke of being ‘‘The new Carryfast’’ so now I’m going to nominate you as the new ‘‘Trucknet Grump’’ .

I’am not one for wearing hiviz when driving but I nearly fell out the cab with laughter just as Scania man took his boots off
Do you see a train driver , ship captain , airline pilot wearing a hiviz , no you don’t , it’s only brain dead moronic lorry drivers who wear them while driving , if you do , you look like a ■■■■■■ who is too lazy to take it off ?
Cue the idiotic response from , how does it affect you , blah , blah , utter pish .

Petition · Remove Dangerous Hi-Vis Shirts from Truck Drivers · Change.orgThe fact that this petition only managed to attract 8 (eight, yes - EIGHT) supporters over its lifetime shows that the majority of truckers are safety-conscious and well aware of the necessity for specialized reflective clothing to be worn at all times. It’s only the few of you lunatics out there who think it’s ok to drive around in plain clothing.
I know you aint being serious mate
(or at least I hope you aint
), but I’ve often wondered how these guys think it’s ‘‘safer’’ to drive in one.
The purpose of a hi viz is to be seen easier, why would anybody feel the need to .“see easier” a guy sat in a driving seat exactly?
Why not go the whole hog,.and ‘‘drive safer’’ by wearing a hard hat, (with full visor and chinstrap of course) gloves and the rest of the standard H&S Clown suit?(I wish I hadn’t said that, there will be some on here who actually will if they are told to do so.

I don’t think it’s drivers themselves, it’s likely down to company policy and their H&S bs although I haven’t worked for one that has insisted for hv to be worn at ALL times. I imagine some of them might do that (large parcel delivery companies for example) and drivers afraid to be spotted / ratted out by a fellow driver on the road so they keep em on all the time.
WTF does it matter? Some of you have very sad lives!

Maybe because of the way I am, that would be the reason for me to not wear one even more so.
I don’t like giving in to arse holes.
High visibility jackets are life savers.
We should wear them all the time.
I also love it when container lift guys wear hardhats when they move the containers. Just incase it drops they are prepared.
emmerson2 says what does it matter if they wear hiviz and we are sad to notice , no we are not sad , the plonkers wearing hiviz are SAD .
The OP says it’s Ok to wear a chimp viz when driving if you’re TRAMPING, no it’s not Ok on a ten hour drive and fifteen hour duty to wear your idiotic look at me high viz ■■■■ jacket .

Hmmmmm…Well it obviously matters to you, otherwise you wouldn’t have bothered to reply.
On my last visit delivering into our local army base i noticed all the squaddies had to wear hi viz vests over the camo clothing…

Hi Viz whilst driving - THE UK PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS FORUM (INTERACTIVE) - Trucknet UK
Been done to death and I still stand by what I said.
You look a complete ■■■■ and should be arrested for crimes against trucker’s fashion sense and dignity.
If they are fine to wear when eating and sleeping why on earth would they take it off when going to work??
What’s the stance on high-viz hats?..

Err tramper here…
I’ve not broke a nine hour drive all week, and I’ve reduced once (getting home rules).
Tramping doesn’t always equate to maximising driving and minimising rest…
I’ve got a high vis vest that is black. My last boss got them because he was pretty much forced too. I’d love to see what people say when I wear it because its still technically a high vis vest.
Makes me laugh when you see some drivers ( rarely I must add ) I’ll also add none of them are French, British or Spanish ( that’ll give you a clue ) come up to the lounges and drivers rest areas on the BF ferry wearing one

Take a trip on the Irish sea routes plenty of Brits wearing them on those boats must think that the only way the ferry will avoid a collision with an oil tanker is because the tanker skipper will see him in the truckers lounge at the last minute and take evasive action complete clowns

Strange as it is I haven’t seen many car drivers wearing hi viz lately . Dicing with death , the lot of them according to that assessment .
All headed for an early grave, I tell ya. Maniacs, the lot of them.
I’ll never forget, on a B road, day time, a truck coming the opposite way. I looked at the drivers seat and all I saw was a HI VIZ VEST and a steering wheel. If it weren’t for the vest I would’ve thought it was a ghost or runaway truck and called the police or turned around and given chase myself.

The other night I parked up on A75. Just a layby but I was knackered so I went to sleep fine. Woke up, opened my curtains to see TWO sets of HGV headlights coming towards me side by side on the single carriageway bit and chuckled to myself as I thought about the boat buttons being pressed
I wouldn’t be chuckling, I reckon I’d be abandoning ship fast with those 2 ■■■■ clowns coming towards my grille at a rate of knots.
I do multi drop, constantly hopping in and out of the cab, it’s easier to keep it on. I once had a woman crash into the tail lift with me on it, and the first thing my TM asked was “Were you wearing a Hi Viz?” It made no difference as to whether or not the dozy cow could have seen me, but it covers my own arse should idiots happen.
