What’s the big issue with this? I notice some of you hate it but I don’t see why.
Maybe if your a tramp then it kind of makes sense.
It just seems a little silly akin to school kids criticizing other school kids for having their shirts tucked in.

Faux Pas
French for “False Step.”
A severe social blunder or major breach in etiquette. If the faux pas in question was unintentional it oftens leads to a very awkward and uncomfortable moment. If the faux pas in question was intentional the person who intentionally committed the faux pas in question is often loathed for an appropriate period of time (or ■■■■■ slapped). But- on a rare occasion the person the intentional faux pas was directed at might find it funny and laugh it off.

You just do not drive a truck wearing a hi viz it is the mark of the beginner and the rank amateur it marks you out as incompetent or perceived by your peers as a clown.
Feel free to ad to the list of other trucking Faux Pas.
driving with front fog lights on in good weather
driving with the curtains half drawn
driving with your foot on the dash EE style
unnecessary use of sunglasses
wearing a wife beater vest (food stains optional) or worse completely ■■■■■■■
Number plate with your name on
dream catchers bull fighter spears samurai swords and so on
multiple devices stuck to windscreen
dangling your arm out of the window
working for Stobarts

That’s utter BS. Wearing a hi viz vest underlines your competency as a professional LGV driver, making you stand above the rest. It’s not a coincidence that the first thing they do when you enter the driving school is hand you a hi viz with the school name on it. The instructors all wear it, the DVSA examiners all wear one. No hi viz, no training.

You have just given two perfect examples of those who should mark themselves out by wearing them.

With regards to your first line you do not drive a truck …ffs WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP the mind boggles as to what goes through some peoples head. Its all down to the individual Driver and how many times a day he/she would have to put it on and off.Where I worked you was not allowed on site without a Hi Viz vest Driver or not you got used to wearing one all the time, nothing to do with looking like a newbie.
People driving in cab with hi vis on
It’s a sign of people who don’t wash themselves they are probably wearing the same shirt that they slept in all week as well
It sticks out a mile just stand beside one

excellent post my man .
sums it all up nicely though referring to the peekaboos then they do provide the required concealment to allow one to play with the mobile phone to pass the time on boring journeys.
the logic of driving instructors and most other such plebs wearing them has always somewhat escaped me other then classic uk bullshine

Been done to death and I still stand by what I said.
You look a complete ■■■■ and should be arrested for crimes against trucker’s fashion sense and dignity.

You forgot driving with flashing lights when not necessary. Back home in our area the binmen were faultless at it.
The gravediggers in the local cemetery wear them, presumably to distinguish themselves from dead bodies in boxes.
I saw a grocery delivery man put his high viz on to bring my shopping down the drive, dicks the lot of them.
My missus works for the NHS and does home visits, the only place she needs to wear one is inside the office. Who makes it up?

Well my house was burning down. Thankfully I managed to find my high vis.
Without I couldn’t of left my burning house and surely would of died.
If only my dog had a high vis.

I never wear a high vis but according to this list I’m halfway to being a one big social blunder with no etiquette.
I’ll get there someday[emoji16][emoji106]

The fact that this petition only managed to attract 8 (eight, yes - EIGHT) supporters over its lifetime shows that the majority of truckers are safety-conscious and well aware of the necessity for specialized reflective clothing to be worn at all times. It’s only the few of you lunatics out there who think it’s ok to drive around in plain clothing.

Strange as it is I haven’t seen many car drivers wearing hi viz lately . Dicing with death , the lot of them according to that assessment .

I know you aint being serious mate (or at least I hope you aint
), but I’ve often wondered how these guys think it’s ‘‘safer’’ to drive in one.
The purpose of a hi viz is to be seen easier, why would anybody feel the need to .“see easier” a guy sat in a driving seat exactly?
Why not go the whole hog,.and ‘‘drive safer’’ by wearing a hard hat, (with full visor and chinstrap of course) gloves and the rest of the standard H&S Clown suit?
(I wish I hadn’t said that, there will be some on here who actually will if they are told to do so.
)
