Hidding behind frilly curtains

It has been mentioned on Trucknet many times,i see the numbers are growing, when you over take a frilly. Not knocking anyone that has them, but what is the point of it,tarts parlour maybe? And the tassles?

Handy for talking on the phone.

Don’t forget the latest trend of having them on the lower bunk with a little tassalated opening into one’s boudoir.

There you go, into the tunnel of love for a ton with a matching pillow.roadking.co.uk/truck-curtain … elvet.html

Mmmm velvet nice.

We had a fella join the firm who liked to obscure his truck windows with his curtains.

With the many threads about this subject on TNUK in mind I asked him why he does it.

He told me that it was so he could use his phone when he wants to and watch DVDs as he drove along…

He was the same ■■■■■ who got fined for having not being able to provide a printout at a roadside check.

Hmm, I wonder if the two things are connected…?

a friend of mine did a night shift for stobarts on agency,he took his mrs along and gave her one on his 45.
after the deed was commenced,he wiped his soiled member on the curtains,so i suppose that`s one use for them :bulb:

Now that is sick ! not the wiping part on the curtains but giving the missus one on a 45, couldnt he think of anything better to do :open_mouth:

A new fella started at my firm several months a go. First week, he took the curtains of his unit home with him and washed them, ever since, his nicknames been “the ■■■■”.

I drove his unit for two days away, had to throw his air freshners out the window, take down his pelmet and frilly tassle obscuring the front windscreen. My cab mutt left a few hairs and a bit of a smell in his cab. We have barely spoken since and nearly had fisticuffs.

Strangely, our newest driver has got the newest lorry (61 plate CF unit) after it’s driver retired and faster than you can say “mates with the transport manager”, hes put frilly curtains in it; Nothing unusual considering the amount of bs’d lorry cabs about, except all our wagons including our artics are day cabs so what’s the point?

i had to sit a read this 2 or three times, i hope this was a joke!!! if it wasn’t and that was my truck there wouldn’t of been nearly fisticuff if you had done what you said, the cab bar would now be sticking out of a very unpleasent place!!
taking down the pelmet wouldn’t be a problem, but to let your cab mutt into what is my home and bedroom words fail me, it just shows a total disrespect.
and why not wash the curtains, i do mine every other month due to the fact i smoke and they do get dirty as a lot of the work i do is very dusty, i don’t think it makes me a ■■■■ for wanting a clean place to live 5 days a week :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

I agree entirely, when I had to share a mount I always left a tin of polish and airfresheners in there with a polite note to keep it how they found it, I used to have to live in that motor and if someone had been in with a dog I would have gone ape sh*t!
If you can’t show a little respect for someone who likes clean and nice things then I would hate to see your house!

Maybe he is not able to shift Gear on the older Units :grimacing:

I can’t give him abuse, he jacked.

Shame really, I predicted he’d last a week longer than he did… Don’t you just hate it when you’re wrong?

I’m not a fan of the “Frill”,looks stupid and can’t really see the point, but i really can’t understand why some of you keep on going on about this subject time and time again??,surely if someone want’s to put frilly curtains or whatever in THEIR truck what business is it of yours??
Some people need to look at themselves before they start judging and taking the
■■■■ out of other people!!..grow up,you’re supposed to be MEN when a lot of you act like teenage GIRLS.
Live & let live, mind your own business and this country might be a slightly better place for it.

Interesting that adding frilly curtains is thought to make it homely…

How many drivers with cab happy attitudes have tassels hanging from the windows of their houses? And soft toys stuck in the front window?

Do you lads have gnomes with wheelbarrows and a nice windmill in your gardens at home too?? :grimacing: :grimacing:

Ain’t a problem - just curious…

It’s not generally the type of curtains which is the problem, I don’t really care what type anyone has. The issue is using the curtains to reduce the already limited visibility and those with ‘frilly’ curtains tend to be the worst offenders. People who have the fancier curtains have various reasons, good or otherwise, for having them, better light blocking, warmer, they just like them and so on but none of these roasters have ever come up with a good reason for using them to cover up part of the windows while driving.

When a new curtain hiding thread comes up every couple of months they are quick to jump in with posts about how it’s nobodies business what kind of curtains they have, which is true, but completely miss the point that it is the position of the curtains not the type that most people take issue with.

How do they glance over their shoulder to check the blind spot?
You would have a different attitude if they nearly swiped you because they couldn’t see you!

I’m not condoning these people, nor do i think it looks cool to block all the side vision,i have never worked out how people get away with blocking the kerbside mirror as i rely on that all the time when changing lanes!!! :open_mouth:
whenever the thread comes up,its always a platform for most people to slag all the curtain fairys off due to them “not seeing the point in it,looks stupid etc” when really its none of their business, however,i do agree with the visibility point and also agree with the means to use a mobile phone as i have seen many hiding behind them…nothing you can do about it though unfortunately,i am just always in the hope that eventually they will be caught, charged and/or fined…Karma.

the reason they are pulled forward is to display the fine emroidery to the general public

This is a good example of the problems you get when you have a cab mutt. :unamused:

Airfreshners i just can’t stand, some folks cabs smell like a brothel. :stuck_out_tongue: My own house is very clean thanks to the girlfriend. :grimacing: Although some years a go when single my junkie neighbours at the time burgled my house and forever after called me dirty barsteward. :open_mouth:
