Got ■■■■■■■ by a forklift today as I pulled the curtains back on the trailer, I just went outside the confines of the rear of the vehicle and a forklift with a 1.25 ton box of onions on the front of it gave me a good smack 
He asked if I was OK, I said yes, but it was a tad painfull for a while 
My waterproof Hi Viz jacket is obviously faulty…I may have to contact the manufacturer, to see if it is out of warrenty yet

I reckon you could be right 
I walked into a warehouse the other day and it was like a sea of bright yellow, the only person that was really visible was a guy in a black top 
If you took more notice of your surroundings you wouldn’t get hit.
It’s only a coloured rag, NOT a protective shield.

As has been said, it’s only a coloured piece of nylon, if the flt driver can’t see it for whatever reason then it’s still going to sting like ■■■■ when the flt hits you.
On the flip side, you Leary failed to see a bloody great flt so hardly all the fault of the flt driver.
I am always watching and listening for the flt when pulling back or strapping th curtains. As soon as I see it returning from wherever it is they go in the warehouse, I stop doing the curtains and wait for the flt to go to one side of the truck at which point I go nod work on the opposite side. Self preservation is a better protection than a high viz every time.

Errr No. IF there were 6 flt’s loading at the same time I would have the common sense to be nowhere near them or the truck.

trucknet really is getting worse the OP got hit by a flt and instead of complaining he’s having a joke saying that the hi-vis is broke . And there is people having ago teliing him there like yoda and know where everything is including 6 flts
Once the reflective strip has worn off, and there’s 5th wheel grease over the rest, the albedo of these garments drops by such a level that you can only see them in broard daylight. 
on a serious note regarding these items, does the colour affect the grade the item qualifies for? yellow is the most common colour by far but there are loads of different colours now. including black! if you have a range from black to yellow with various colours in between and assuming they all have identical reflective strips, would they all receive the same grade? and would black be permitted and accepted as a standard hiviz vest if it does receive the same grade as its yellow counterpart?
Now…To be serious about this, which I find difficult to be honest.
I rarely wear Hi Viz, unless it is cold/wet, then this jacket comes into play, I have recently had a couple of run-ins with the H&S nazis where I work, so am wearing it more often.
Now…I have always been wary in all conditions and especially in busy yards and never had a problem…Now I get used to wearing hi viz and I suppose I have dropped my levels of alertness if I am honest…Like a driver, I am depending on safety measures to protect me and we all know that in reality, this is not the case.
So, they can shove there hi viz, it doesn`t work for me, I will flatly refuse to wear it, stating the reasons above…I wonder how I will get on?

I wear a black hi-vis sometimes, if you’re working against a white background black will contrast much better than yellow. I also think that we’re getting over exposed to yellow and are stopping noticing it as well. I’ve noticed that black really ■■■■■■ idiot office bods off too
