I’ve just bought a black one!! ( vest) , Honest. Not tried it yet but someone’s bound to have a go at me.
Only the florescent yellow and orange ones conform to EN471 regs so you’re in for a world of pain with the H&S nazis wherever you go. I looked in to doing the same thing and going for a different colour but it’s more hassle than it’s worth.

Unless you run green wagons and give your drivers stupid pink ones.

Not only driving with a hiviz on,they sit in the cafe wearing it.
i cant post the link on here for obvious reasons but i was perusing through some errr… videos the other day and there in a layby in the pitch black was a truck driver doing a bit of dogging in a hi-viz vest
i,m sure some sort of personal protection should have been used but not the type he was using
I must admit there are some strange ones out there, i bet if they invented high vis fishnet stockings with matching steel toe stilettos, there would be a significant reduction in drivers being run over but an increase in twisted ancles.
All Hansons , Tarmac Lafarge , Agg. industries and most other quarries are making hauliers wear the full suit at all times ! That includes long sleeve jackets goggles and gloves.
Then in the next breath they are saying drivers must stay in cab at all times !
Auto sheets ,auto tailgates , etc are all compulsory so the driver doesn’t have to get out of cab but still has to wear the clowns suit.

I did 40 Year without HiViz and allways in Slippers (Birkenstock or how there Name was)

That’s because if people are treated like adults they act like adults. This continual dumbing down of society seems to make people think they no longer have to be accountable for their own actions.
How would the health and safety police cope with drivers stripping down and rebuilding tilt trailers.
Most of us had no harness or any Ppe.Walking on top of the plastic sheet roof.
Pulling back a very heavy trailer cover on your own in 48 degree heat in Sevile or Jerez.
Or in freezing weather.Staff had factories would run off when they maybe asked to help strip or rebuiid it.
A crane could pull the sheet back but may tear it.

In Bardon quarry you need full suit of armour on even on the lorry park, BUT, weighbridge staff dont They walk across the roadway in front of the trucks coming off any of the weighbridges to the lab without any ppe at all, and trust me, some of them NEED covering up
Old thread but it saves me starting a new one. I have pretty much the same question as the OP, is the vest always required or can you get away with just trousers?

Aye because it’s sooooo hard to start a new thread yet you took the time to dig this up!
In answer to the ops post…i would think that just hi viz trousers are not suitable, you will still have to wear the vest/jacket…i have never worn company trousers as they are like wearing cardboard, but they have to supply them in case some nancy boy complains he got diesel spilt on his trousers…i have never had the need…just the hi viz, and i never like wearing that…at anytime…

Yeah, I mean it took me so much time to ‘dig this up’… The google search which led me directly to this thread was so time consuming
What’s the point in starting new threads all the time if a thread based on a question I have already exists?

To save people reading old crap?
What old crap have you had to read exactly?
The question I wanted answering was in the post I’d published today… Is something typed out 5 hours ago now considered old crap?
