youre time would be much better spent doing your homework than on a lorry site ( we limited our girl when she was at school to 1 hr per day ) , or do what we did when we were kids , kick the ball round the park , hang round with mates girls .
Or in your case go and play on a railway line or a factory roof
dozy:
Swansea , Bridgend , Cardiff etc to a bloody Midlands driver , when you’ve a depot at Newport , Rochdale , wouldn’t a Appleton driver heading home make more sense
but yea your right everyone bar me at stobarts thinks it’s [zb] wonderfull ,
I would , I’ve 2-15.00 , plan me within those hours and I’d be fine
dozy
Doesnt always work this way. you could have other drivers with part loads unable to reload at a nearby address/depot.Different drivers/different start times/tipping/reloading slots…its not an ideal world…

well it’s not really me but I had my say , I wasn’t happy ( he gets told every week I won’t run in / work o/t ( I mean Xtra ) shift ) but as I said I’ve not got a cat in hells chance , so he said could I start at 2 am , well I guess but I’m out of hours at 15.00 so can’t get back still s, so jobs been changed to a Rochdale at 8 I think it is , I’m happy with that , so he says are you ok with that yes , sorted , well I thought I was and this pops up , I know mcbrides but not this place at Sutton in Ashfield , . But it’s a 16.00 booking , so if they won’t tip me / I don’t get there until 16.00 I’m still stuffed , I then have to get tipped and back ,
I really struggle to understand how he can’t grasp I’m out of hours at 15.00 , I have to be in the yard by 15.00 , why when you’ve gone through all this on the phone , telling him your out of hours at 15.00 would you then put a job on that driver with a tipping time of 16.00 , when he’s only got until 15.00 , I’m lost with his reasoning , I’ve had some [zb] planners , but he just seems like he can’t grasp the fact you can be out of hours / 3x15 , 2x 13
I’ll do my best but if I can’t do it I’m taking it back to the yard , there’s only so much you can do and say and if they won’t listen , you’ve just got to do what’s right for you

Maybe not Andrew , but why would you plan the job that way originally , you know the drivers need to be home on a Friday , there depot , time there out of hours , is it really that hard to come up with a plan that makes that happen
Possibily my mate has it right , you keep saying you won’t run in , he’s determined you will
the nodding donkey:
You shouldn’t post after you’ve been drinking.
Why , I was starting at midnight Swansea , then it was changed to Rochdale and he asked me to start at 2 which I said yes (?read the whole thread ) , I started 2 am and got back 14.30 ( or booked off then )
As for drinking , yea been down to Oxford to see rovers so had a few pre - match ciders , been out tonight , few tomorrow dinner , I don’t see anything wrong with that , that’s what we did , 70,s , 80 ,s 90 ,s , you kids should try it , stuff the wine bar , get down pub & have some ciders with mates

Can anybody who worked for them (Beaver, UKtramp etc) confirm what the norm is with Stobarts?
Or is Dozy just a poor fella who gets all this crap?
I know planning is sh…t with Stobarts and they pile the work on you but it can’t be that bad■■?[emoji849]
I think most Trampers get home on their 5th day or■■? [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji849]
I can confirm that the Biomass planners are stupid, incompetent and arrogant. They ran me out of hours five Fridays on the trot, fortunately on three of the cases the forever creeping start times meant that I could bang in my break, run back and just about pull my card with 45 hours left to get my rest in. (Which BTW implied to me that the whole situation was planned, becuase I wouldn’t have been able to get my full weekly rest in if it had been accidental.) I was raking in the money, (agency driver) for the first four weeks so I rolled with it but on week five I had weekend plans and covering those plans with someone else cost me £850. So on the Monday I drove someone else’s wagon and Stobart Biomass Transport Ltd were wondering why one of their lorries wasn’t moving.
ESL tended to be a bit better. The problem with them is their fleet department read all about EN-12642-XL and thought that that, plus a 750kg ratchet strap was sufficient to restrain two packs of 1300kg sharp edged concrete blocks. This and other issues is why I only lasted a week on the Aggregate Industries contract. Basically if its more complex than a pallet of coke cans, don’t trust Stobarts with it but while the equipment is all nice and shiny and useless for the job, the planners on general were actually not that bad.
ETA: I actually owe the AI planners a bit of thanks though. It was one of them who said to me “If you think you can do better, put your money where your mouth is!” So I did, and now I’m looking to buy #2.
