In England or even in the UK we drive on the left, there is no need to indicate that you are moving back into the correct lane or position after an overtake.
Watch an Advanced Police Driver, they will only ever indicate if it gives someone an intention of his next movement. A police driver will rarely indicate left at a roundabout, because it isn’t helping anyone else.
As for flashing in or thanking someone. I will decide when it is safe to come in, the same as I hope you would offer me the same courtesy.
This thread has been covered many times before, as many times the road markings, street furniture or simply velocity are the only things you need to watch out for.

You most certainly should ALWAYS indicate your intention to leave a roundabout. To those waiting to enter it is extremely annoying when drivers already on the roundabout do not indicate their intention to leave. Also it is somewhat of a suprise to following traffic.

Close your eyes Orys and imagine this is really happening I bet you don`t change lane till I start to move over even with a signal.
You never plan into future behind the wheel? I hope I will not meet you too often on the road…
As for 2% chance: it’s not a chance that I will drive into your bumper, it’s a chance that I will have to slow down, which will be incomfortable for me.
Driveroneuk:
For clarification, what Rog & Smoker have said is correct, it is NOT normally necessary to indicate to RETURN to the left lane from L2. The Highway Code says Drive on the Left, so it should be expected you will return there when it is safe to do so.
But then you are changing lane. And Highway Code clearly says “Changing lanes - indicate”.
ROG:
If a truck is in lane 2 and I am in my vehicle (van/car - whatever) in lane 3 and I am wanting to go into lane 2 to let another in lane 3 pass me then I do not need an indicator from the truck in lane 2 because as soon as it starts to physically move across into lane 1 then that is my cue to start my move into lane 2.
I am not interested if it indicates or not - it is that movement what matters.
The highway CODE says many things that are not law but recommendations for the basic ‘average’ driver.
I’m quite sure that most professional drivers have gone beyond that need to drive from a book and now now have a more ‘advanced’ approach to driving…
That is not to say that the HC is useless but that it is not able to account for every situation out there.
The HC is a GUIDE to good safe driving (apart from the legal bits in it) - nothing more.
It could be termed as the numpty guide in some respects as some numpties think that they did what the HC said so they were right - just as they get carted away by the ambulance !!!

So don’t we should expect more from a proffesional driver. “Average driver” should follow the HC. The proffesional driver should be aware of need to show what he WILL do in near future - and that what the indicators are for.
You don’t know what I want to do, and you are not in place to judge what I want to do, but as I showed in my example I can need you signaling for some reasons (and it’s not you to judge if this reasons are good or bad, as this is me who are responsible for my moves), you shoudl indicate, as there is an other road user (me) who will find this indicating useful.
For me is the end of story, and I still agree with you about this in example with you and the overtaking vehicle being the only vehicles arround.
It could be termed as the numpty guide in some respects as some numpties think that they did what the HC said so they were right - just as they get carted away by the ambulance !!!
Somehow I believe that there is much more drivers carted away by the ambulance when they thought that they KNOW BETTER than a Highway Code…

That is the key word
Thinking & knowing are different
I’ll explain - The Roadcraft book has many things in it that are different from the HC - why? - because it is a progression from many aspects that the HC recommends
Many truckers drive to the ways that Roadcraft recommends and most don’t realise that they are doing it - why would they - they have never read the book - they don’t need to - their driving has had to get to this standard in order to stay safe for themselves and others on the roads out there whilst driving a huge potential killing machine.
And so we made very nice academic discussion of that  In this academic discussion I agree with you, but I think I gave you an example, when your indicating could be useful for other road users and in my opinion this is enaugh to indicate, as proffesionals or not, we all should try to make driving easier for each other.
So if you don’t mind, I will be signaling my maneuvres every time if I will know, that there is someone behing me apart of the vehicle I am just overtaking (or if I am not sure if there is anyone behind).
I would be glad to see you indicating as well, for reasons explained by me before, but if you don’t, I will somehow survive… Only the poor, example motorbiker, will have to slow down a bit more often.
hi there fellow trucker nice to see someone still on blocks lol i was at canute got layed off last july i had a scania waggon and drag now in a daf cf 85 pulling containers there are some out there that ignor you but also some on the limiter but switched off and they just dont check ho hum such is life welcome to the inner sanctum lol jono
