Hercock simpson/continental

Hi Lads.
Would these have had anything to do with the Hercocks you have mentioned.Just reading about them in a magazine and it states that they merged in the 70s with a company called Simpson but they ceased trading in the 90s.Both from Leicester.

I’m off to get the vintage road scene mag march edition stanfield, thats them alright. William Hercock was the old man then i think his son Barry ran it from the 70s onwards. Simpson-stokes was i think the coal side of it iirc, then when they sold the site to fina, they carried on the coal side of it as stokes transport of merrylees desford.

Dont rush GH there isn’t to much about them in it really just a few photos and a little write up.Have a read of it first in WH Smiths before you spend money :wink: :slight_smile: JOHN

Does anyone know what happened to David Speake, Angelo he use to drive the F12 draw bar and Ian Thompson ? all from Hercocks

Seen “Me Duck” many a time in Italy. I used to do a lot of British Steel (stainless) (as did Hercocks) back in the early 80’s.

thats doug now deceasd he was the only 6 wheeler to go abroad for hercocks the dafs brown white livery was a 3300 5 bought from daf ipswich

Me Duck was there when I was there, he use to do alot out of Desford Tube, nice guy, very helpful.
