Henry long transport

del949:
Dreva, a couple of names to conjour with, Eddie Robinson,Terry Mortimer, Keith Parkin, and the guy who ran the truck wash but never put any soap in it because he had a sideline…!
used to take unit and trailer for a wash on saturday mornings and all that was in the wash was fesh water.
Longs always had a smart looking fleet, even when they were in Manningham.

can you remember a driver called donald lightfoot poss 60s I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT HIM FOR HIS DAUGHTER AND WHAT HE DROVE SHE REMEMBERS ROPES &SHEETS AND IT WAS RED &YELOW CAN YOU HELP

Sorry that name doesn’t ring a bell, but I’ll ask around and post if I get any info.

Anyone remember this ?

Is that the one that Eddie Robinson used to drive to Immingham?

i would think it was a continental motor

The reg number definitely rings a bell but I can’t remember who had it - a guess would be tall thin Bob who did Belgium (Menen LAR) for Transflash all the time, or Brian who did Sittam Milano somethimes for us - sorry I can’t remember either of them’s surname

i know Geoff Cowley had 1 very similar

does brian dutton ring a bell

Can’t say it does Keith2, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong  The Brian I’m thinking of was a nice bloke and a decent enough driver but did some odd things now and again - he came in one day from loading a 12tonne cutting head out of British Jeffrey Diamond at Wakefield and I wanted a gander at it.

Even as a 18.year old office twerp (although well trained since the age of about 9  ) even I knew it shouldn’t have been on the neck of a 12m stepframe tilt, and had to stop him pulling out from under the trailer on soft ground :unamused:

Nice to see you back Dreva, Dutson or Dutton still doesn’t ring a bell particularly to be honest. Bob and Chris as you say did the Belgium, both good blokes, Chris always put on an act of being very grumpy but was really quite a laugh - i blagged a lift out of him to Zeebrugge one Sunday via Western Docks and maybe sussed him then

might have been dukeson mate nice fella if any of the old longs blokes are on they will remember       cheers for the welcome back jj
