Helmet-Cam Cyclist Menace to HGV

Dear All
As a cyclist and an HGV driver I am happy to report that from this helmet-cam footage the cyclist is being a complete p***k !

As you can see there is a cycle path on the left, but he has no intention of using it. Do you actually think the HGV driver cut him up? In my opinion I don’t think he did; cutting someone up means bringing them to a complete stop. This cyclist is a menace to other vehicles and should be off the public road with this type of riding and aggression. Kudos to the driver for winding-up his window. :sunglasses:

Cyclist is a ■■■■ fully agree there makes you laugh cycle lane clear and does not use it.The guy on the bike has a cheek to do anything yes truck got close but thats all.

Cyclist and trucker here. The driver was clearly in the wrong because he should have given the cyclist room rather than pulling across close enough to knock him off. The cyclist did nothing wrong as he is perfectly entitled to use the road. “He should have been on the cycle path” isn’t an excuse, even if the road had signs saying “no cycling” (which they almost never do except certain bridges, tunnels etc). Cyclists often don’t use cycle paths because they often lose priority, have “cyclists dismount” signs at regular intervals, or peter out in the middle of nowhere. You can’t use physical violence against someone (that includes using an 18-tonne lorry as a weapon) because they annoy you by getting in your way.

Here we go again. Do you know the reason the cyclist was not on the cycle path? There may have been a perfectly good reason.
If you think the truck was not too close you should get an eye sight test pronto.

If the cycle path was clear and usable then the cyclist would be far safer on it however the truck driver was far too close and cut in on the cyclist which is totally unacceptable no matter what the situation.

Atrocious driving from the truck. He hasn’t even got the excuse of “sorry mate, I misjudged and wanted to turn left at the lights” . The driver had already prevented anybody from overtaking him by moving across into lane two, so why not do it properly and get further across and time the lights properly to keep momentum on his side? Nob.

I’ll shock a few people here and agree with Albion. Driver at fault, maybe judgement clouded by driving with those stupid earphones in.

" If the cycle path was clear and usable ".

Looked pretty clear and usable to me. Maybe the knob should use it.

Can’t make out if that’s a drop body or not, but if it aint, and it’s the same driver on that motor all the time, he ain’t the best of drivers looking at all the marks, scrapes and dents in it.
I reckon that he did cut in on the bike, but the cyclist should have been in the cycle lane, not compulsory maybe, but a hell of a lot safer.

robroy:

You’ll get no argument from me re that statement mate, hell , I often see people cycling down the A1; ill thought out, ill conceived, but not illegal (see what I did there  ), and I am usually the first person to defend a brother rubber, but you can’t defend the indefensible. It’s only a question of when, not if that driver kills a cyclist.

Got to say you have a hell of a bad attitude for a driver that’s been driving five minutes.
You saw very little of the cycle path and have no idea why that cyclist was on the road.

Been driving/riding 25 years. Clean license.

I know the reason why the cyclist was on the road instead of the cycle lane.

Because he is a prick.

Without getting into the blame game. We need to remember that “Mr Cyclist” probably paid £800 for his fancy wheel rims, and therefore won’t use cycle paths on the grounds that even a dropped kerb may damage his wheels. Plus he doesn’t want to waste any of that pedal energy by stopping at any point for his own safety. Hence, he’s probably going to be cycling on the road whether the cycle path is usable or not.

Thus the idea of using a cycle path for his own safety, is irrelevant in the mind of a lot of “roadie” cyclists. :unamused:

Yes he has a right to be there, but for the love of God, don’t give drivers (good or bad) the chance to ■■■■ you up!!!

Apologies must have got you mixed up with one of the other clowns but your attitude towards cyclists still stinks.

Im the one with the squirty flower in my left pocket.

If cyclist use the road, they should pay some kind of tax to use the road…

Ya or Na??

Not this ‘emissions’ tax only (some) vehicles pay…

I thought road tax used to be just that, a tax to pay for the upkeep of the roads??

Sick of these Lycra wearing pricks with helmet cams looking to make mountains out of mole hills , the truck did nothing wrong, if he had been too close the prick would of been off his bike, the ■■■■ on the bike should try using the cycle lanes ,but i expect there wouldn’t be any opportunity to use the helmet cam then would there?
It would of been really funny if the driver had got out and decked the prick, and then threw the bike under the back wheel of the truck and drove off , but then the prick wouldn’t have uploaded it to you tube would he

Had one the other day who thought he was going to sneek in down my blind side whist i was waiting at a roundabout as i was slowing i made sure my nearside wheels where in the gutter so not enough room for him,lol

Agreed. After the ’ incident’, The poor victim cyclist then proceeds to force his way up the traffic to go and provoke another road user (the truck driver).

Where is a suddenly opened nearside car door when you need one?

Yes a shame that there was an absence of that ,then the prick would of had something to actually complain about
