Top man, always nice to see some quality on here !

Another bit of history then, this time about trailer manufacturer Faymonville, they’ve made a giant leap forwards in the past few years, with the addition of Cometto (see previous post) being the highlight in their history for now…
Half a century of history

The Faymonville story starts with the manufacture of vehicles in a forge at Rocherath. Subsequent developments can be traced with the aid of a few key dates :

Up until the beginning of the 1960s : sale of agricultural machinery and tractor cabins
1962 : Berthold Faymonville builds a new production unit
Up until the mid-1960s : Faymonville manufactures and sells forestry vehicles
End of the 1960s : the first semitrailer is built at Rocherath

The production range is extended, with the addition of:

the first lowbed semitrailer for the transport of glass in 1973,
the first inloader for the transport of glass in 1977,
the first extendable hydraulic steered semi-trailer in 1980.
From 1980, Faymonville becomes the specialist in special transport. The years go by and expansion proves necessary.
1988 : the firm moves into its new production unit, at the industrial estate of Büllingen.
1990 : the repair department is created in order to improve the services provided to the customers. Still in 1990, Alain Faymonville, son of Berthold Faymonville, takes over the management of the company.

1997 : a new business line is launched: the purchase and resale of second-hand vehicles. In the same year, the production unit is extended by a third.
At the beginning of 1999 : this production unit is enlarged again, resulting in its surface area being extended from 6,000 m2 to 10,000 m2.
Till 2002 : several enlargements of the company in Büllingen
2003 : Establishment of a new production hall in L-Lentzweiler
2003 : Enlargement of the service hall in Büllingen
2005 : Construction of a training center in Büllingen
2005-2006 : Enlargement of the production site in Lentzweiler and construction of an additional production unit in Goleniow/Poland
2007 : Enlargement of the site in Büllingen
2008 : Construction of the CNC-hall and enlargement of the site in Poland
2008-2009 : Enlargement of the site in Lentzweiler, of Faymonville Service and of the CNC-hall
2012: presentation of the new brand MAX Trailer
2013: Enlargement of the site in Poland
2014: Construction of a new service hall nearby Moscow (Faymonville RUSS)
2016: Construction of an additional production unit in Lentzweiler
2017: The Faymonville Group acquires “Industrie COMETTO S p A”

Still not sure about that “prince of heavy haulage” title though… [emoji38]

Hey Patrick,Nice to see you posting a pic of the elite ! :unamused:

You’ve really lost the plot mate… :unamused:

A nice picture.

I was strolling one day through the Hyundai shipyard in Korea and came upon this sad sight. The steerer in charge of this multi wheel mover had been tasked to move this brand new ships engine from the engine shed to the building ways and had got a bit too enthusiastic at steering wheel twiddling and dumped the lot.

6_cyl_BW_fell_off_trailer_Korea.jpeg
The engine was the top half of a MAN B&W 6 cylinder that would weigh somewhere between 5 and 600 tons so it tends to disprove the old lags tale “No need to strap it down laddie, its too heavy to move”
