"Heavy Haulage through the years"

pv83:
Some pic’s of “Challenger” in it’s last days in Wynn’s livery, seen here hauling a transformer (14 in total, all destinated for the South of the UK, all part of a big replacement programme) using a Cometto girder frame and Nicolas bogies.

I reckon Wynns must have been the most photographed heavy haulier Patrick.

Anyone heard the latest rules changing if that’s what you could call it :open_mouth: like for example not carrying 2 21 tonne machines because they could be carried separately with out stgo ? Good news for hauliers but bad news for others .

The engine it’s carrying will be a Crossley made at their works in Openshaw Manchester. They became part of the asset stripping group of NEI.

Well Dan’l I honestly believe that you and your no doubt asthmatic Foden fall into neither of the two categories you mention in your post unless, of course, you are including a third category for “Messers” but I will leave it to you to decide which ,if any, of the three categories you believe that you and your Foden are members of, however, I couldn’t possibly comment ! Cheers Denzil.

I wouldn’t expect you to understand Denzil but it looks like the Dvsa are interpreting the rules differently rather than changing them but I can’t see how they can do it without setting a tare weight bench Mark .

Well said Dan, Dennis like me whom I now retired from the haulage game, And pleased to say so, Dan you are a up and coming present day haulage man who knows how to cope with all the crap & paperwork,So take care my friend & stay safe, Im just having a night cap. That helps me sleep, Talisker, , Regards Larry.

Can’t find any updates yet Dan, but it’s probably to put a halt to the “if it’s on, it’s gone” brigade…?

Well PV my info comes from inside the rank  there are no changes as such just a different interpretation I believe .

Always good to have some “inside” information Dan. I wonder what they’re coming up with now though then?

Another great shot, ta for posting

Tough little Unimog in action!

Certainly no hills around, considering the early Unimogs delivered at the most 40 bhp!

It’s all in the gears isn’t it? The Scammell 100 tonner just had 70bhp IIRC?

Nah,not having that, there is a very long scaffolding tube from the rear end to the bonneted tipper behind!

Great picture though!
