Cheers for reminding me Johnny… :unamused: Having said that, how much people do you know that are in their 30’s but get mistaken for being over 60…

Happy New Year everyone

It’s all about life balancing itself out, I am often mistaken for 60, winners and losers. :unamused:

Regarding your next bunch of ancients, in the 2nd picture I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t be sitting calmly in the cab watching the cameraman with that great jib hanging over me.

I speak from the bitter experience of one who was almost the fatal victim of a crane operator who jammed his lift in the block and released the jib line in panic. I was standing on the back of the unit, hands on the headboard at the time and saw the loose chains swinging towards me. I threw myself sideways off the wagon but the last hand which propelled me away was there long enough for him to almost take my finger off.

I was rewarded with a swift transit to the local cottage hospital, an almost equally swift race to Exeter General, and 3 months off work and a new Daf to come back to.

Cheers mate… just to inform you, it’s all about my aerodynamic shaped haircut…

Sounds like a close shave pal… but what’s life without a bit of risk eh

Funnily enough, that was exactly what I was saying, ‘let me get back for a bit more’, but they wouldn’t let me out of the blood wagon. :imp:

I think we’ve all been in such situations… and thinking back it was probably for the best that we weren’t let out again for some more

Some ancient footage of Voutas from Greece

I’ve done some detective work regarding one of the most impressive tractor units I’ve ever seen… The mighty Titan 42.615 F 8x6 fitted with a MAN F8 cab and massive V12 engine boasting a whopping 615hp, bear in mind this beast was built in 1984…

New to German haulier Krause it became part of the Grundt fleet after the merge of both companies, it eventually was sold to v.d. Vlist Romania where it certainly was earning it’s keep!
I lost track of it since v.d. Vlist closed down their Romanian operations, but apparently it was sold to a firm in Honduras and is now part of the fleet of Mamut Colombia, I’m trying to get my hands on some footage.

Interesting unusual vehicles. Pic 6 is definitely a Büssing, and could be a converted bus/coach chassis.

Quite a machine indeed I wonder how many litres to the kilometer it required when working hard.

Wasn’t sure if it was a Bussing or not Froggy, cheers for clearing that up.

Don’t reckon fuel consumption was high on the list when they build this beauty Johnny…

I once worked out the old DAF was using 1 litre every 400 metres… but that’s the least of your concerns when your’re going uphill weighing some 80+T…

Some more pic’s of Krause’s Titan.

.

I’m not sure if this Mack was part of the Krause fleet as well, but it looks like this was a one of…

The Mack looks impressive, with its extended cab. Is that a Scania next in the queue?
