Interesting to read that they’ve replaced a double drive bogie of that Volvo for a more solid Leyland one…

Afternoon Patrick have a read of the Aussi article about Volvo bogies !

Nice to see you been doing a bit chap you certainly had a mixture of loads !

Cheers for the article Dean, odd though, the Durham lads swapped the Volvo back-ends because they weren’t “tough” enough, whilst the Australian lads here state that they are better than the solid Rockwell ones…?

In the article there’s a 8x8 V10 powered MAN mentioned, you wouldn’t have got an article about that beast stacked away somewhere in your library, now would you Dean…?

Some pic’s of what I’ve been up to these past few weeks, had me occupied for a long time, 4 weeks on the road in total, I’m glad I haven’t got any driving to do until January…

Started by going to the UK, tipped a cherry picker, loaded a jet engine in Derby destinated for Toulouse, took a empty engine stand with me in Toulouse destinated for Derby, swapped that for a module that was going to Berlin, after that I went to Vienna to pick up a propeller sort of thing for Cardiff, tipped that on a Sunday, had 45h off in Newport, headed to Derby once again to pick up an engine for Oslo airport (Gardermoen), loaded a used rigid for export in Oslo, brought that down to Hamburg, went to a place near Dresden after that to load a case that saw me go back to Hamburg again to tip it… and after that job, set sail to the yard and that was that…

Your wagon still looks in good condition after almost 1 million kilometres.
Good to see you are still living the dream [emoji16][emoji16]

Aye, would be sad thing to see the old girl go, hasn’t missed a beat yet! Apart from the gearbox that is…

Not sure about that “living the dream” though Johnny… I’m currently calculating what my chances are if I retire now…

I remember there being an article many moons ago about the MAN V10 in a 4x2. I think it was around 600 hp. That was when 400 hp made you feel like you were king of the road. No doubt you have the article somewhere in one of your many shoeboxes Dean [emoji16][emoji16]

That’s this one you’re referring to Johnny, the F2000 series, MAN was the first one to go over that “magical” 600hp barrier if my memory serves me well… and as one might expect from the Germans, you really had to search for details, such as the slightly higher positioned cab, otherwise you would’t know that that was the most powerful one of the lot…

I drove the less powerful brethren of the F2000 family, a 403, but it pulled like a train! And it really had a nice growl when the engine had to work, still miss driving that old beast, was the best one MAN has build imho, perfectly fine tuned and all that, the TGA was quite a disappointment to be honest.
