Great pictures Patrick as usual merry Xmas
Chris

Cheers mate, just doing me best to keep everyone entertained  Merry Xmas to you and your loved ones too.

That’s this one you’re referring to Johnny, the F2000 series, MAN was the first one to go over that “magical” 600hp barrier if my memory serves me well… .

And if my memory serves me, Pegaso was the first over 500. Must have been something to do with climbing over the Pyrenees to get out…and back. Did no-one tell them there were easier ways round? :unamused:

DEANB:
Heres one for “Dirty Dan” from Sweden in 1980.

Click on pages twice to read.

I remember there being an article many moons ago about the MAN V10 in a 4x2. I think it was around 600 hp. That was when 400 hp made you feel like you were king of the road. No doubt you have the article somewhere in one of your many shoeboxes Dean

That’s this one you’re referring to Johnny, the F2000 series, MAN was the first one to go over that “magical” 600hp barrier if my memory serves me well… and as one might expect from the Germans, you really had to search for details, such as the slightly higher positioned cab, otherwise you would’t know that that was the most powerful one of the lot…

I drove the less powerful brethren of the F2000 family, a 403, but it pulled like a train! And it really had a nice growl when the engine had to work, still miss driving that old beast, was the best one MAN has build imho, perfectly fine tuned and all that, the TGA was quite a disappointment to be honest.

That’s the one Patrick.

TER LINDEN started out as a tow and salvage company for trucks and since the early nineties has specialized in the transport of wind turbines. The prominent yellow trucks and several kind of trailers, which most were specially designed for them, enabling them to transport most wind turbine components on the market today.

They seem to run DAF, Volvo and Mercedes trucks. Not a Scania in sight - that’ll please Heer Patrick no doubt.

Or I might be very wrong… or blind… but it seems to me you haven’t done your homework properly Herr Sutherland!

Pegaso■■? Well, that certainly is a surprise to hear Spardo, was that in the Troner era, or before that?

I don’t know Patrick, but this wiki article would seem to suggest that they had pushed the limit to 400 at that time, but it does seem unlikely that it was done before.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegaso_Troner

I don’t speak from any certain knowledge, but I do remember seeing the article about a 500, the first in Europe, in one of the magazines. Probably the now defunct(?) Truck?

Well, I didn’t want to spoil your Christmas Heer Patrick

Truth be known, I didn’t see one Scania on their website, so I suggested (fortunately - They seem to run DAF, Volvo and Mercedes trucks.) that maybe they don’t have a Scania in their midst. It is of course possible that Heer Patrick has doctored the picture. There’s no saying what the young fella will get up to to prove me wrong.

Cheers for the link Spardo, I’ve always assumed that Pegaso fitted ■■■■■■■ engines in the Troner… Never too old to learn eh

True, why would you bother. Have you ever driven a Next Generation Scania or just a general dislike for the Swedish make? They can’t be too bad when so many are buying them. :sunglasses:

Some footage of Dutch haulier E.J. Van Dijk, was one of the oldest firms around in the haulage industry, but is sadly not longer in business.
