Ah the good old one size fits all answer to anything and everything in the new H&S utopia, because some half wit can’t drive for toffee unless giving it 14000% individual attention…eyes bulging gripping the wheel as if its the only thing stopping them falling off a cliff…no one else is allowed to.
I take it you are one of these arrogant types that think you are capable of more and are so much better than others.
Trouble is pal 90% of drivers think like you and about 90% are not capable. I take it you are more than capable of speaking on a phone whilst driving as well just like the ones that have mowed innocent people down.
Hearing is a very important factor when driving and it is essential you are alert 100% of the time when driving because one slip up can be fatal.
Try reading the link I posted earlier and maybe you will learn something but then again you sound like you know it all already.
Must be related to Albion

Thought you were a clown? Now all of a sudden you are a numpty?
So does this make you a clumpty?
Could be a nown i suppose
, either way, i for one know when i am being admonished by an expert in commercial vehicle driving technique and am grateful, us young uns have much to learn.
Ah Punchy, yes our old fiend Albion, haven’t seen any posts from him (well i think he’s a he) for some time, there are similarities but Albion never ever called me his pal, aw shucks
Of course there is another Albion, a fair maiden, not to be confused with the curmudgeonly one…most confusing these names, we should take a leaf from the Monty Pythons and call everyone Bruce.
Yer all mental!
Yeah deaf people can drive but they don’t just jump in and drive. Do they■■?
Their vehicles are adapted so they can drive safely. Come on yer meant to be proffs.
and as usual the chineese are streets ahead of us with the latest hearing impaired breakthrough for drivers who are mutton…

Blimey it was absolute carnage in the 1950’s and 60’s with all those deafened drivers running around.
She seems to be doing a good enough job without being able to hear a bleedin thing except the motor.

How are vehicles adapted for deaf drivers■■?
Do they have one of the sign language guys from the tv in the bottom corner of the windscreen?
I got me some fine headband type cans, wonderful enjoying a little Bach or Joni Mitchell on those dreary long hikes,I would say the Chilled mindset it promotes more than negates the hideous omnipresent road noise.Intuition tells me the questionable loss of aural perception is compensated by increased spatial/visual enhancment,IE flashing blue lights I find can be lost in the thick soup of surface noise but a mind that’s stress free, via music is in a better place all round.A simple touch to the side button deals with calls too, kind of a win win.

My new iPhone has voice activation and can phone and text people without taking my eyes off road as long as headphones in, do we think this is OK?

Well ask yourself this: would you have worn them when taking your test?
Or Are you pretending to be a newbie?
If you are that important that you need to use the phone whilst driving then buy a dash mounted Bluetooth hands free speaker!
Y
Simples !!!
Different country, different laws but Massachusettes only allows one earpiece when driving, two would hid traffic sounds such as horns.

None of these allowed here in France , whilst driving
Head phones, earpieces, even Bluetooth
Why bother with any of it
Just use the radio/cd player for music and answer/ make calls when at break/ being tipped. Whats the obsession with having to be connected to the world 24/7■■ Some seem to be attached to their phone by umbilical cord…

I think you’re being a bit extreme there. Personally I have mine to keep legal IF I need to take/make a call. Nothing more.
I personally only use them for one phonecall a night and that’s when the missus rings me. Soon as we’re done talking I just take them off and I’m done with em.
