Thank gawd there wasn’t the shock horror about a bit of extra oomph back in the 80’s, where the speed mentioned was attained regularly and exceeded by some, by no means downhill either.

HSF never stopped during the days of analogue, police never caught a driver with a completed field entry, the name was always left blank and the excuse was always the same “I forgot to enter it” , if they never got a tug then at the end of the shift Mickey Duck or Daffy Mouse would do, and in went another.

I had a Sed/Atk on Lex Wilkinson 290 ■■■■■■■ would do 85 no worries, was travelling down to Laredo TX, near San Antonio doing the legal 75 in my Pete, when two, not one, two Kenworth tankers came past me like i was stood still, and i mean stood still, don’t know what speed they were doing but they were out of sight in no time.
