Have you PERSONALLY had Covid-19?

At work one of the drivers felt unwell and went for the test and he didnt tell anyone, then returned to work while he waited for the results and guess what he got it. I work for a major blue chip company where all the lorries are double shifted with any driver. The company have stood the last lorry up he drove, but he had a different lorry each day.

I cant understand why we are wrecking the economy and young peoples life chances over this.! I dont know of any one who has died of Covid not WITH Covid. Two friends lost their wives to breast cancer ,nothing stops for that.

I have never practised social distancing, I have never worn a mask, I have not increased my hand washing I have not had covid nor do I know anyone who has had it apart from on tv. I also saw santa flying on a sleigh on TV once so who knows

It’s easy to see from the last couple of posts why this isn’t going away. Sheer ignorance and arrogance from people who because they don’t know anyone that’s had it.
They can’t correlate with anything simply because they don’t have the capability to understand how a virus works.
All these Doctors and nurses who died earlier this year trying to save others lives and we get someone bragging how they have never followed any rules ever yet they have never had the virus. What a hero eh. :imp: :imp: :imp:

No, but 2 members of my immediate family have had it, while I was living in the house. No one hospitalised.
We are all outdoors a lot.
I take Vitamin D, too.
Not a nice illness to have, and one had ‘long COVID’ and has taken 6 months to be at full health again.

Think the word PRAT springs to mind!

In early March I started with a dry cough one night, then two days feeling very rough and very tired, then a 100% loss of taste and smell for 6 straight days (was still not completely back to normal after 1 month), then tightness and slight occasional pain in the chest for a month, and the cough went on for 39 days. Every symptom was textbook covid, but never a temperature though (that I was aware of).

I wasn’t tested, and I’m not saying it was definitely covid, but I was a bit of a nightclub animal right up til March. So it seems very feasible it was covid.

I reckon so - in January. Never had anything like it, the coughing was unbearable.

And it kept reappearing, about three weeks in all.

We know so many people who caught it, we called it the cough thing with attendant temperature etc.

I had to accompany my other half to a hospital appointment and a receptionist there was stricken so bad with coughing we had to wait until she pulled herself together.

Three days later and that was me.

Turns out there was a guy who lives not too far away in the paper today who reckons he got it in Rome in September.

This things been around a lot longer than the medicos say it has, that’s for sure.

I caught a headline earlier declaring today is officially the one year anniversary of this thing. I think it will be a year at least until we can say “yes, we’re over the hump, and gladly coming down the other side”.

Recon so robroy in February me my wife , daughter and more than a few in the village all were down with a strange flu, my daughter had doctor out and he had no idea, wasn’t good at all felt like crap for weeks.

There’s an old bloke in his nineties, who frequents my local…was told to by his son(who works abroad, somewhere)to isolate at the beginning of last December.

We were in Victoria Australia last November returning home on the 10 December. While out there we were literally knee deep in amongst Chinese tourists not knowing any better. Just over two weeks after returning and us visiting my Daughter in the meantime, daughter went down really sick, the worst bout of flu she ever had she said.

My wife helped her out doing chores and child minding. My five year old grandson then developed a chest infection, up to then my wife felt fine. we went out new years eve to see the new year in and the next day my wife was feeling below par. I put it down to a few too many G&T’s. The next few days were awful as I watched her deteriorate, but the doctors said its just flu, but on the fourth day called 111 and an ambulance was sent to evaluate her condition. Within 20 minutes she was taken in and treated for an unknown chest infection and kept in hospital in an isolation room, for the next eight days she battled this infection and pnumonia in her right lung.

I, despite sleeping in the same room with her remained clear, so did her 80 year old mum who was staying with us for christmas. I think there are some with a natural immunity and another section who will catch it regardless. We have both been tested since and remain clear but the mass tests in Liverpool have found a startling number of people with absolutely no symptoms but carry the virus, and that is a frightening thing to contemplate.

The scientists are still learning about this, it will be a long time before we really know how this virus behaves and its legacy.

I’ve no idea , I’ve had a covid test that was negative before going into hospital , but I’m the opposite of a lot of people , my mask is worn at all times , when I leave the house it goes on , when I get out the lorry it goes on , when I arrived on ward in hospital I was told I didn’t need to wear it , but I said I wanted too , the other 3 patients didn’t bother
I’ve got enough health issues without this on top of it ( Kate garroways husband derek is a good example ) of why I don’t want it .
I guess if I was 20/30 again , fit & strong I’d be thinking I’ll do what I want , but age & health means like a lot we have to try & protect ourselves , & a mask at all times seems to work for me , & hopefully continues to

A mate of mine contracted covid and was dead 6 days later. Only 53 and an ex Royal Marine. He followed all the guidelines and he still lost his life.

Yes, it’s a sad state of affairs with some. Was speaking to my sisiter on the phone the other night and she was telling me her neighbour who had friends in Fife (a couple)
caught covid and both ended up in hospital. In their 50’s with no underlying health issues. He died and his wife is in ICU fighting for her life. Terribly sad.
On the subject of those that think they have had the virus it has been said the biggest majority who think they have actually have not. We were on a cruise last Xmas starting in Hong Kong and ending in Singapore and there were a lot of sick people on that ship my wife included but none had covid 19.

I reckon if you have ever eaten at Ross Cattle Market and Stibbington or taken a shower at Swindon Truck Stop or Lymm you will be immune anyway, the antibodies on those plates and drains will cure cancer.

On Immunity, I know people who went down with Swine Flu amd ithers who cared for them and never got a ditto of a symptom. Thst was a genuinely nasty one even for healthy people.

It just seems to be fairly random as with most bugs, unless you’ve got something which tips the balance or it gets hold in the wrong area, like the lungs causing pnumonia.

There doesn’t appear to be much logic in why some people catch an airborn bug and get a slight cough and others catch the same as get pnumonia. Thats when it gets serious for anyone which I guess is why this one seems to be hitting a slightly wider population.

I’ll try to help you understand.
Cancer (all types, not just breast cancer) kills around 450 people every day in the UK.
Covid-19 first arrived here in late January. The first death (in the UK) was recorded at the beginning of March. The “lockdown” measures came into force towards the end of that month, yet by mid-April Covid-19 was killing nearly three times as many as cancer every day. No-one knows how many more would have died had the “lockdown” not been imposed.

Oh - and the reason for imposing the restrictions for Covid-19 but not for cancer is that you cannot get cancer simply by coming into contact with someone who already has the disease, or by touching surfaces etc that they have also touched.

"Coronavirus was the third biggest killer in England in October, official figures show — but the total number of deaths from all causes for the month was no different to last year.

An Office for National Statistics report today found there were 43,265 fatalities recorded last month — just eight more than in October 2019 — of which 3,367 involved Covid-19 (7.8 per cent)".

Good lord are people STILL making the daft ‘nothing stops for cancer’ nonsense analogy :unamused:
