Have you ever seen a more desperate job advert than this?

bald bloke:
It actually works out at 1 in a 1,000 or even higher than that so basically turn up alive you have passed the rigorous assessment!!

It’ll be interesting to see what you have to do to fail one.

Word is that as long you have a Class1, and that you don’t turn up naked carrying a chainsaw, you’re in.

The desperation continues…

Assessment Xmas day anyone?

I am quite tempted by the idea of tramping 6 on 6 off. .Does anyone know how this would work.
Ie you work 6 days get 6 days pay. What happens on your 6 off. You get paid anything.

Although the 4 on 4 off sounds tempting as well.

As at min do mon to Fri only get 2 days off weekends.
Am looking for something with more time off.
Don’t mind putting in the hours when at work

I changed from mon-Fri tramping to 4on-4off a few years ago, and wouldn’t go back unless absolutely desperate. But you must do your calculations very carefully, as you only work 3,5 days a week ( average ), and end up working only 3 pay days in a pay week twice every few weeks .
The solution is to get paid a salary, I get the same basic wage every week, wether I work 4 or 3 days, or wether I’m on holiday. I wouldn’t do it on a hours rate or day rate.

ETS:
There was a company who advertised (internally) a £250 referral bonus for any of their current employees who could refer a new driver to them…Obviously the newly hired driver would have to complete a certain number of weeks with the company for the bonus to be claimable (2 or 4 weeks, not sure). That reeked of desperation.

Walkers at Leeds have done this in the past

If I was tramping 6 on off I would want to be doing it back to back with the same driver and same truck. Not one used by all and sundry.

Odd days:

They say variety is the spice of life, I did 516 days casual and drove 186 different units.

Some wally from the UK haulage guffers was just on bbc1 live (Biased propaganderist news)
He never mentioned pay ,But whined on about so many thousand EU drivers returning home leaving haulage in trouble after Brexit,Erm i thought they were off due to pay increasing across Europe ■■?
The easiest way to stop this B,S is to pay drivers fairer
That is the bottom line,Now i know a few will be triggered because they have all flash trucks and are lovers to there wonderfully patronising bosses ,But pay across the board really is woeful @ an average of £30k a year for almost double the hours Joe average does, is simply not good money …As for JR are they not run by ES now ?
I have cut my cards up quit hgv Driving until pay is fairer,And firms are forced to respect the driver .I do now drive a tipper van and trailer … for £11.50 per hout with a bit of heavy lifting now and then ,Payed properly every week ,And overtime after 40 hours !!!
.I don’t need a poxy cpc or Tacho card these days ,I will retain my licence with the five yearly medical at £40 a time .
I will not be heading back into HGV driving any time soon , especially after the last bunch of twunts i drove class 1 for .A crud firm called In-Transit in Baginton near Coventry .They are always advertising ,And now i know why …
It ends up @ £9.65 an hour after being promised a huge £10.06 (£10.06 is low in my opinion but i needed work ) The thieves took my enhanced night rates as my 1 hour daily break after doing 13 hours days ,They pay an enhanced rate if you go into night hours ,Seemed good until the docked it for my lunch break wtf lol…
When i had realised how poor the work was i gave notice ,I had to battle to get my pay through the small claims courts .Serious penny pinching bafoons ,And they shorted me after having to pay tge £30 to micol lol .I actually gave them notice and finished the day for them refuelled and cleaned the truck ,I was pleasant ,They tried every single trick in the book to not pay me .This is one of the worst reasons for the fake shortages ,Poor firms poor conditions and tripe pay .
Until this changes these desperate adverts will continue .Short term greed is causing long term problems in Haulage imo .

But there’s other companies. I’m only a short hop down the A45 from Baginton, I get £11.80 an hour paid start to finish, £25 weekly meal allowance, nights out if I want them with extra pay, parking paid etc and I get left alone to do the job and as such it’s no bother at all.

Not all HGV jobs are bad, it’s just about finding the right one for you and forgetting about any loyalty until you do.
