Have you ever been 'forgotten'?

Inspired by another thread, I was reminded of a situation once where I was forgotten about.

Pulled into Brita in Biscester one Friday afternoon. Went inside, announced my arrival to the chap in the office. He told me to go onto the end bay.
Opened up, backed on. And waited.

And waited.

And waited.

An hour passed and I noticed some guy putting a post in across the entrance. Where I was sat in a 7.5 ton motor, I couldn’t see past the trailers. I got out as he wandered off and noticed that I was ‘locked in’.
Went to goods in door, and it was locked. Walked around to reception, and the receptionist asked if she could help me.
Told her I pulled up at 1 for a collection, and I am still waiting to be loaded.
‘Ermm. . . The warehouse went home at 2.’
‘Well can someone let me out the yard then please?’
With that, the bloke who told me which bay to go on, walked through the door, looked at me and his face dropped.
‘Oh ■■■■■■ Sorry drive, I completely forgot about you. Will load you now.’
15 minutes later, I was loaded, on my way, with a box full of water filters as an apology.

Boots at Burton. Turned up during a power cut and just before shift change. Got given a pager but they forgot to put me down on the system once it was back online. Sat there for 4 hours for 4 pallets. Finally got the hump when 3 trucks that arrived after I did had been tipped and done before me. By then they said they didn’t have space to put my goods as the other 3 trucks had just unloaded there.

Just finished my first tip, phoned in for another job. Was told to park up and wait for a phone call. Waited an hour, phoned in again just simply told to wait. This is at midday.

6 hours later, parked up and night out:) Didn’t get a call till following morning. Where they then told me that I only had one tip yesterday, but forget to tell me that;) POA baby!

Years ago a mate of mine tipped at Park Royal at about 8am and phoned the office for instructions, my mate could be a tad obstinate and he didn’t get on with the planner in question, so when said planner said “hang on and I’ll call you back” he did just that. So when he phoned back 24 hours later he got the same planner and said to him “well…?”

I thought it was funny.

been 8 hours in a queue at boots nottingham, but there again who hasnt !!!

Waiting for a container’s contents to get custom clearance at Felixtowe. I was told it might be a couple of hours so I got my head down. After a 3 hr “snooze” I wandered back to the transport office to be told they were waiting for the customer (not my company) to phone through the excess payment. I rang my TM, who said he would find out what was happening. An hour later he rang me back to say that the customer had forgotten he needed to pay customs and had “nipped off early” ast it was about 4pm. They finally contacted him at about 6 and he made the payment. Arrived at the docks at about 11.45am and left at 6.30pm. When I made the delivery the next day he was full of remorse for forgetting so I just said “sh*t happens, don’t worry about it” at which point he presented me with 48 cans lager as an apology!

last job I had it was customary to get lots of temp drivers in for the busy time of year.
this sometimes led to too many drivers for the work, so regular drivers were told to go home and wait for a call.
One of lads had 4 days off before they remembered him.
with pay!

Was forgotten at Home Bargains (TJ Morris), what a bunch of arse holes.

Booked in, told I was late and to wait outside to be called, nipped in a few hours later and they said goods in had gone home

Turned up at sains haydock New Year’s Eve with an inter depot load backed on bay and sat waiting, watched what I thought was shift change go home at 1800 hrs and sat some more until a security guard came past and asked why I was still on site. Aparantly everyone finished at 1800 hrs and that was it until 0600hrs, guard was good as gold himself and his mate with me rustled up some hand trucks and we got everything off eventually and made last orders just.

Only been forgotten once.
Fed a coach to dover, did the swop and discovered 2 agency bods taking me off ( ment to be 1 of our lads+agency)
So no car to go home in. Phoned boss to ask how was I getting back. To be told taxi on way from windermere for you!!!
Was told should be 1 hour.
6 hours later phoned the car up, phone off, phoned boss no reply. Sod this I booked into hotel for the night.
Next day boss phones up with that nights run to be told I’m still in dover. The taxi didnt show.

Boss now bouncing off wall as I was only free driver that night.
Cost the taxi driver who went to pub after forgetting me the cost of hiring me a rental car. And a tour coach to do my nights work!!!

One of the drivers on mathews was dropping a trailer in exeter on a monday lunch time and was told to just head north on m5/m6 ish and they would ring him back with further instructions, he rung them weds morning asking if they’d forgotten him?

He was in glasgow and they had . After that one got told to just head north/south after that, always given a point where to ring from

Got “forgotten” about at walkers Bellshill , always a slow tip but after a 4hr wait I went in and no one knew about me, shift change hadn’t told them about me!

Also Scania had left a until at our place for 2 weeks(trade in they was using to get mech’s to and from customers) when we asked them if they wss coming back for it ,“so thats where it is!!!”

been 8 hours in the drivers waiting room at boots nottingham, but there again who hasnt !!!

FTFY :stuck_out_tongue:

This guys parents went off on holiday once and left him ‘Home Alone’ for ages…

Macaulay Culkin!

What?.. It must be true I saw it on the tv!

I pulled into the Harwich to Cuxhaven port was told to park in between some trailers as I had done before, had a tidy up and did a bit of paperwork, looked at the time realised it had passed the normal loading time stared walking back to loaders office only to see the gaffer locking the door, hey I shouted what about me where by he ran to the ship shouting let the ramp down let the ramp down, so half an hour later when they had dropped the back ramp and internal ramp up to the weather deck (as I had haz on) we set sail, the captain was not happy, fine with me as it was not my fault. another time on the same crossing when we got to cux a ramp hydraulic ram failed and we waited 4 hours for a big crane to arrive and let down the ramp, free tea and biscuits of course.

Years ago i went into ASDA Grangemouth and i was told to go onto a bay, then sit in your cab and they would come out and tell me when it was time to lower the floor in the decker…

i got back into my cab and fell asleep, woke up 2 hours later, went back inside and no one knew i was there as they had done a shift change not long after i had got there and no one had told the backshift !!

Happened to me many times over the years. I have had drivers here that say they got forgotten at drops but in my opinion they were just trying to pull a fast one to get paid for doing nothing.
One of our guys know be try and get away with doing as little as possible went to Be & Jerry’s which is an easy drop, it’s a drive through bay so no reversing in, you pull up at the door, use the phone on the wall or call on your own phone if you want, they open the door and you drive straight in, this guy arrives and backs up to the other ‘out’ door and just sits and waits, the staff have no idea he has even arrived and so until a milk tanker arrives and has to back in he sits or sleeps undiscovered, meanwhile the tanks of sugar are getting lower by the minute. The driver then complains that he has been ignored for hours and does not have time to run anywhere when empty and gets away with being paid for nothing
Can’t really blame him,he’d make a good union rep

My mum used to keep forgetting me down the shops… I’m sure it was a genuine mistake.

Asda Warrington twice
1st time on truck park area
2nd sent to bay at far end nobody there had to go look for someone in the end as got bored
