I was looking at both of these companies to do my c+e with. from what i hear they are both good companies from people I have spoken to that have previously passed with them. the thing to remember is that gordon springate only offer 2 to one training so you maybe lucky to get 4 hours driving per day a for a 5 day course i was qouted £1113.00 quids so for 4 days and test with them i would be lucky to get 18-20 hours driving. where as kent metro are offering me for £1052 28 hours one to one. so are they really more expensive?

We have had this debate many times about 2 to 1 or 1 to 1 training
If the 1 to 1 is for half days then that’s fine but any more than that is really pushing the human limits of concentration and trying to LEARN when tired has a huge downside
If the 1 to 1 is more than 4 hours per day then you are likely to spend more of that time resting for the reason I gave above
2 to 1 all day is ok as the drivers swap over on a regular basis to rest
£1052 for 4 hours per day over 7 days on 1 to 1 seems good value to me
WHAT SUITS YOU is the one to go for - your money, your choice
yeah i think its good value too rog.
but would some one who is driving cat c for 7,8 or 9 hours per day 5 days per week like my self really struggle to learn c+e for maybe 8 hours minus breaks etc?
even if you only did 20 hours with kml. which is roughly what you would get else where with the standard 4 days then test on the 5 th that still comes out at £752 plus the test fee. imo thats pretty good

You have a double concentration factor - driving & learning - the human brain cannot sustain this level for long periods in the majority of cases
Most of the trainees I had for all day C+E asked me to either take over or make sure they were back in the yard from early afternnon as they were simply too tired to continue safely.
I could have given them more downtime in the morning but what’s the point of that as it still reduced the actual ‘behind the wheel’ time.
The all-day training for C & CE courses was the hidden reason that I was falsely pushed out of my last instructing job as I challenged the management on doing this as it was unsafe to make trainees drive when tired.
The management insisted that trainees had paid for all day so should be made to drive all-day no matter what!!
The management did not want any possible come-back from trainees when they realised that doing all-day training was not a realistic thing to do.
i did my class 2 there with an instructor called wally they were cheaper than anyone else in the area and will also do a you a better deal if you pay CASH!
Not again Rog. In your opinion you think 2 to 1 is better.
1-1 training in 6.5 hour day in a nice relaxed atmosphere only driver and instructor including reversing practice wins hands down for me.

I never said or intimated that !!
Either is right if that is what is best for the trainee
As long as a company can give them a CHOICE then I see no problems.
What gets me is when a company can only offer 1 to 1 and they tell the trainee that is the best way…
yes i used them 2 years ago very good passed first time.
who kml?
thanks for the advice mate just booked it today saying to gordon springate that i want 1 to 1 traing they tryed pushing the 2 to 1 with me as ive got a freind that does lorry driving for a living he said 1 to 1 is better and kent metro would not drop there price they quoted me 1350 for 5 days

And by the same token, there are companies out there offering 2 - 1 training with the trainee sat on the bunk! i wander what their insurance would make of that!!

tomsd1989,how much did springates charge you for 1 to 1 and for how many days
and were they full days or just 4 per day for 5 days?
yea there full days they charged me 1 to 1 £970
joedwyer1:
and were they full days or just 4 per day for 5 days?
is that with springates. how did you manage to swing that? they wanted £1110 of me for 2 to one. i cant see how they could charge you less? especially if they have only got one paying student in the truck rather than two?
I must admit to being a bit lost here…is that £970 for 1 to 1 ALL DAY for 5 days!!!
