Bottom left hand Indians Head designed to go on the Big J’s but never fitted, 2nd pic, these given out with every Big J fitted with a 240 Gardner, a Dennis Smith from Lancashire allegedly has 39 of them according to my snout in Macclesfield!

That is just the kind of shot we have been looking for, close but “no cigar”, I wonder what the story behind this motor is ? and what engine would it have had ? ■■■■■■■■ RR maybe ? or maybe AEC 505 Cheers Bewick.

It’s not funny Dave !! I was “Blue Lighted” to Hospital after I saw that shot of the Big J Steer
! I was put on life support in the ER room but the Nurses kicked me out when they found out the cause of my admission
, had to stand out in the ■■■■■■■ rain in a nightie until Anne came to take me home ! Normal service has now resumed so the search goes on for the elusive beast ! Hope you are both well
! Regards Dennis.

Well Den, if you had snuffed it, that would have saved me shipping the yearly Brie and vin Rouge over,
however, I don’t begrudge you the cost and shipping charges as anyone who managed to keep this thread going to over a hundred odd pages about a picture of a lorry with a engine stuck out the back,
deserves it…as a bonus I’ll send Ann a carton of Ferrero Rocher, and that big gold medal she so deserves…
We’re both good thanks… it’s cold, wet, and windy…but seeing as it’s nearly December, can’t complain…hope you and Ann are well, apart from your rush to A&E that is, and that all your policy premiums are paid up…just in case Despatcher finds the real thing !!!

Hiya Dave, Don’t think you are getting off the hook that easily ! I have got “CF” poised to come across the Channel in his Bedford KM (330 engined
) unit c/w 44ft Highway single axle coil carrier. Only problem is that once you have loaded the pallets of Brie and Rouge red you will have to sheet and rope it for him otherwise it will be all over the ■■■■■■■ road at the first roundabout, then I will get it delivered on an 8 wheel tipper !
what a ■■■■■■■ stinking mess !! ROF has offered to lend him the 3 in-complete log books he used as a “Cowboy” so “CF” can make the delivery in “one 24 hr hit” but apparently “CF” is carrying on down to Santander as the ferry back to Pompey is E10 cheaper plus there is a male stripper on the Cabaret on the overnight crossing,
with regards to the delivery of the Ferro Rocha I understand you are sending them in a Peugeot Partner fridge van to arrive on the afternoon of the 24th December, “carriage forward” ( tight wad!
) Yer get nowt fer nowt these days
Cheers Dennis.

Blimey I think you’ve confused me with all those weird international drivers talking about Trannies,Crabs and Routiers. On that note tell him only Remy Martin XO and Chateau Neuf and White Burgundy will do and bring it over in demount boxes and I’ll collect it from Portsmouth with the Merc wagon and drag from my last job.And I’ll send back some cask strength Glennfiddich to show the frogs what real spirit tastes like.

That’s my Boy !
So OK “CF” so much for the BS about your knowledge of the finer French Cuisine what about this combination you are proposing to do the job with, was it a “turntable” drawbar or a fixed bogie close coupled one ? if it was a turntable one then apart from Fergie having to sheet and rope the load he will also have to turn it around for you with no need to un-couple and turn it on the nose eh! and don’t try and tell us it had the DD engine either ! Cheers Bewick.

Deffo a ‘proper’ one Bewick. If you’re saying that you’ll need me to show you and Fergie how to back into a ■■■■■■■■■■■■ when he’s driven it off the boat that’ll cost you a few extra bottles of that Remy and the Chateau Neuf. While if youre saying I can have the 4400 instead of the 2534 ignore that I’ll take a few less.
I think you two are getting rather “close” if you don’t mind me saying.
And I am open to offers for those log books- there are plenty more in the printer, along with dubious fuel receipts and books of parking tickets (various colours and denominations.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times,
yours faithfully,

Here’s a few more for you how to make use of Big Js
Hiya,
Ah’ yes shades of an old firm I worked for a couple of times in the
past, the infamous Jos Walsh of Darwen he fabricated most of his
rolling stock to move his abnormal indivisable stuff around the UK
and I must admit it performed very well for home made gear, but
the rear steersmen had a hard job and dependent on the weather
britches arse steam steering and only a plate to stand on when it
was necessary to assist with getting round tightish spots, Oh’ and
don’t mention if raining or worse snowing.
thanks harry, long retired.
