I don’t know why theres so much fuss about 8pot gardners. They were bloody freezing to work in,
I know one driver who drove with a lit stove under his seat and even that froze up!!! Give me a nice
warm ■■■■■■■ any day. Ps they also sound a lot better. regards kevmac47
KEVIN you must have sniffed to much of this stuff now put the can down.
Only you would have a pic of a can of easy start Brian, I’m starting to worry about you. Does Lyn still let you out on
your own?? regards kevmac47

Have any of your old motors survived into preservation Dennis?
We aren’t starting this Big J BS again for a start the telephone No. is for Lancaster area but the ad says South East so that doesn’t add up ! ■■■■ take IMHO !
The reg details would have been updated with any retro fitted engine number.
Either way it looks like a tall order to fit that motor and transmission and prop shaft between the Big J’s radiator and diff input flange without some suspicious after market ‘modifications’ ?.
As Devils advocate for the Cumbrian troublemaker maybe Guy Motors put it on the sales brochure before seeing if it actually fitted ?.
Lancaster ain’t that far from the shed where you are rumoured to have hid and then forgot about, the only one ever to have been built to your order, in the rush to replace the Gardner powered fleet with Scanias before everyone else did.
The converted Big J 8LXB was done by, and owned by Jimmy Wall from Liverpool. The Gardner definitely fits, I’ve seen it, but it doesn’t have a Fuller. It still has its original 6 speed, I think a Thornycroft but I may be wrong about that. I dare say the 8LXB would smash it to bits with a loaded trailer on, but it’s obviously fine running around solo to the occasional show.
Obviously I do not know how this new TN site works but I can say it has turned to absolute ■■■■■ from the the years previously when it was absolutely interesting and informative but now in my opinion its gone down the pan unfortunately ! what a shame but hey that is progress ! But it has sunk down to irrelevance ! I still keep having a look in but more out of hoping the quality and content of the site may improve but I won’t hold my breath otherwise I would “croak it” Sorry Mods but that IMHO so if I have contravened your rules and you cancel me forthwith so be it ! Your loss not mine !
Spoke to them, it’s been sold. Guy who’s marketing it lives in Ingleton but he was selling it on behalf of someone else. It is a retrofit. Nice enough guy though, had a good long chat as he run’s a coach (B10M) on school’s work so I might get some business out of it.
