Ah your honour Mr Judge, you have overlooked one vital piece of evidence still to arrive.A photo of a Guy Big J with an 8LXB from the Smith of Maddiston archives. You your honour did not think any existed, but I have made contact with a Smith archive man who has pictures of two.
I rest my case
Cheers Dave.

I think my learned friend, the drinks will be on you.Why am I arguing this Big J thing,as I wasn’t involved in it,until a bloke I thoroughly believe told me they had one.Now I have the S O M man emailing me some pics, then we can see who is awarded costs of the case,my Lord.PS Dennis you need to learn how to count,39 less two =37.

hiya,
For me it’s got to be a bill of sale as delivered and a rear of shed shot as straight off the production line anything else as i’ve said before is a conversion and it would be a very difficult task to shoehorn a 240 into that chassis although not impossible would it have been worthwhile, remember Atkinson had to increase the engine compartment size to fit the 240 into it just look at the difference between the motors with the ■■■■■■■ or 180 Gardner and those motors with the 8lxb inboard, from my memories of the Big Js the engine compartment was pretty chocker with the Roller or the ■■■■■■■ let alone a monster lump like the 240 just wondering where would the driver sit they was’nt a shed with much room to spare to start with, sleep tight.
thanks harry long retired.
Well said my learned friend QC for the Defence!!! If I’d known about you “H” all them years ago I would have paid George Carman off and nipped into the Brown Bear to retain you(What was your fees in them days?) cheers Dennis.
Dave the Renegade:
Part of an email I recieved from the S O M man.
Hi Dave
Yes it is true. I know of at least 2 guy big js with 240 gardner engines in them both 1974 registrations
Hope this helps.
PS I have the photographic proof.
Oh ye of little faith Trev.I found a Smith of Maddiston man via a search engine, not an 8LXB I might add.
Anyhow, how come youv’e waited this long to come up with this revelation?? This should have been offered a long while ago as evidence for the prosecution!!! You can’t trust these SOM old timers,I think most of them are “do lalley” now!! They’ll be offering to drive one onto the Court car park next, mark my words!!! Dennis.

George Carmen represented me in Birmingham Crown Court,in the civil action over my accident,my solicitor was from Bolton and when he took the case on,he said.I will get you the best QC in the North of England.George was a libel lawyer, not a personel injury lawyer,so we didn’t win, also it was four years after the RTA,but I can say that I had George representing me,before Ken Dodd and the other famous clients.
Cheers Dave.
PS He was only a little bloke.

It does, but if the man is in America for Christmas and answers an email via a blackberry, and his PC and pics are in this country it does take a while longer.

I am sorry Dennis but I was learning from the grand master it was look and learn and he showed me the sophisticated way to go about things we were off before we heard the “wait” and Harry said to get a bottle each and two glasses which we did but they were bottles of single MALT (as neither of us are into wine )and we found a corner in the tap room and really enjoyed emptying the bottles so who ever pays the tab it may a little more than they were expecting "hic, hic " but we do appreciate the goodwill gesture to pensioners.
Hi Johnnie,
The case hasn’t been dismissed at all.Dennis is only out for a meal with a tag on his ankle. He will be hauled back into the dock, once the pics of the S O M arrive.

Hi Dave I did not want it to be to much of a shock to whoever is going to pay the tab as we chose the best malt which they stocked and even that gives you a sore head when you finish a bottle and as “H” told me no one said which drink to have so we will be rooting for whoever is paying the tab
cheers Johnnie
