Green fencing

What is all this green fencing popping up at what seems at every services all about , if it’s to stop load theft I cant see how that works , there’s entries to walk in by foot or drive in , no barriers etc

Yeah ‘‘truck security’’ I would reckon, but more expense than actual use.

That’s what it’s all about in this country today, all ‘‘On the surface’’ stuff, ‘‘seeing to be doing something’’ …..but in reality NO substance or use whatsoever.

The list goes on, especially in this industry, DCPC, H&S, POA, to name a few off top of my head….now this.:joy::joy:

So they can fence us in like prisoners.
Miles away from the main building .
And no doubt be the obligatory signs park at your own risk we do not accept responsibility for any thefts

Do any services or truckstops actually have a security guard on duty these days?

They could have a security guard with a big and ferocious dog to patrol the area at night but good old health and safety has probably put an end to that as the trailer freight robber could sue for damages and injuries if bitten by a Rottweiler, German Shepherd or a Doberman.

Don’t be silly thed rather install CCTV cheaper and easier.

I popped into Rownhams this morning and they had multiple signs along the road from parking to exit, warning of live Cctv monitoring for pissing or throwing out piss bottles.

I would like to think that the employee with that task also keeps a lookout for diesel theft and curtain slashing.

Thing is these days security guards can’t really get involved for health safety reasons etc
Plus incase they get attacked themselves or injured.
Or worse still they injury the thief and they then put in a claim.
End day though if someone wants to ■■■■■ your curtains nick your load they will no matter what

Looks like Blyth services. Probably there to make you use the ‘official’ crossing points rather than just wandering across the grass.

Just seems strange it ( green fencing ) is appearing everywhere

There is definitely a security guard at Cherwell valley , seen him a fair few times wandering around 3/4 am ish

Piss bottles are a joke , I get they don’t want to get out of bed middle of night , but no excuse for not emptying contents in morning , then put bottle in locker etc until you can dispose of it ( though I knew a tramper who purposely left a full bottle of fermenting piss in the cab to deter anyone from using his lorry at the weekend )

Yes Blyth , maybe , but seems a lot of fencing just to get you to use the zebra crossing

Think robs probably hit nail on head

I thought it was just for vanity and to prevent shortcuts from motorcyclists and cars etc?

A few of the ones on the A1 have them, and those of that ilk. From some likely lads working in pairs, to a lone bloke who is the land owner and lives nearby etc. I haven’t seen any of the big boy services have them really, just the ugly CCTV recording plates.

Yeah but it goes into the what-if territory of complete p s y c h o -pathy when they do that.

Cherwell valley , see security about most times I come in here

Definitely this, they don’t cover 40 foot slashes in curtains, or fairies borrowing your fuel, but if you dare to overstay 2 hours without paying, you’ve got 100 quid “parking charge notice” on the doormat, and 8 of the highest quality photos of you doing it, that would do the daily mail proud!

Ya must have got it by now mate, they only supply parking places because they have to…..they don’t want you there.!

Personally I don’t want them either….

MSAs overpriced sh holes only good for a Gregg’s coffee and a shower, ..then find somewhere decent to park.

They could provide the nicest parking facilities going, and even pay you to stop there… they’ll still be 5000 lorries on the industrial estates and in the laybys!!! My place pay good night out money, pre pay parking and even reimburse your meals… but there’s still a gang who park overnight in the depots and only shower when it rains.

Lay bys have always been a definite no no for me, but nothing wrong with ind estates if near town facilities to walk down to.

Yeah I get parking paid, and nowadays I make bee lines for pay to park truckstops…but mainly because I’m a bit of an arse after we got e.mails saying if fuel nicked we could have to pay for it….so it costs them about 60 quid a week now on my 3 nights out, where as before that e.mail it cost them nothing…..so a lot of parking charges over about 3 years…..more than a (nicked) tank of diesel would anyhoo.

And oh yeah….I take a shower every night.

Yeah…That would be only when I would start to park there.:joy:
