Pleased to hear you’re enjoying it. So much for the miserable nay sayers.
I can put my hand on my heart and say that I absolutely love it. You definately have to be a people person no doubt about it. I never stopped laughing from setting off to returning home. The passengers were fantastic and we all fully enjoyed it. They showed their appreciation if you get my drift and a lot said it was the best holiday they have had on a coach, I got involved with them all was telling them jokes over the mic etc. Just a great job in my opinion and would fully reccommend it to anyone who fancies it. Moneywise I may have dropped a hundred pounds but claw that back very easily.
Have one on me, from my repertoire.
As you’re passing a paddock full of sheep, point them out and go into a bit of detail about how they’re shorn and the fleece it turned into wool, which is then turned into garments (lay it on thick), then ask if they can see the one right at the back, licking the barbed wire fence. Guarantee they will, then tell them that’s the one they get the steel wool from.

Glad that you enjoyed it and all went well. Best not to mention tips etc. Also dont use the mic. ,even if its on a long stalk thing as you drive, we are not allowed to give a running commentary nowadays.

Really? Oh I didn’t realise as the driver that I was with was using it constantly, we had two, one was hand held but when driving it was the one on a stalk attached to the seat. Glad that you mentioned this.
Great to hear you are enjoying it YT. Thought you would though with your good attitude towards people. Undoubtedly you will get the odd awkward passenger but just smile, don’t let them wind you up and laugh at them when they are not looking. It worked for me.

Plenty of jobs with this mob. My sister and brother in law just did a trip with them. Flew to Sydney to join the tour, flying to Ayres Rock/Ullaru, did the various Rock tours and had a Guy Sebastian concert. Traveled to Alice Springs and did various tours there.
These are people who, until Covid rudely interrupted global plans, have holidayed all over Europe, Asia and Iceland, twice.
They’ve probably seen more of England, Wales an Scotland than most Brits. They raved about the latest tour like I’ve only heard them praise Iceland and Stonehenge.

Kind of curious. Is this type of work strictly for Ozzies as l imagine it is, or would other nationalities get a look in,albeit on a temporary basis ?
As long as you can get a work permit/visa and pass the driving test, you’ll be good to go.
A car or motorcycle licence can be converted to Australian equivalents, from recognised countries, UK being one. Heavy vehicle categories are not convertible, a test will be required.
I reckon Darwin or Alice Springs would be a better bet for a driving test, shorter waiting list for the test. Check the ad, you’ll need an MR or HR. MR being any two axle rigid, HR any rigid. They could be operating two or three axle coaches.
On passing the test, you’ll walk out of the testing centre with a freshly minted licence, no waiting for it to be posted out.

Cheers SDU.much to ponder.I’ve always wondered if most oz trucks have embraced the concept of in-cab-coolers to any extent ,separate from standard air-con , or maybe they follow the American practice of keeping the engine on constant turnover mode, given the extremes of heat in Australia ? Something tells me probably not but handy to know?

Normal engine driven compressor while driving. Turn the Icepack on when parked.
There are cheaper and less efficient versions available.
Another great week, the Cotswolds is a fantastic place, especially loved Bourton on the water and stratford upon Avon. Monday I am at Durham, Holy Island, Beamish Museum, Alnwick Castle and Newcastle all on a 5 day holiday. The job just keeps giving!!!

Enjoy.
I have really fallen in love with the job, had an awkward passenger last week a bit of a misery and always moaning about something. I tried my best to accomodate his moaning but then grew tired of it and concentrated my efforts on the rest of the passengers who were enjoying the time and places we visited. Had some really good reviews placed on social media sites and had some emails of grattitude to the company which boosts my confidence and gives you a lift. Never got that driving a lorry.

Go for the fish an chips at Beamish, best ever!
I am looking forward to them, have been told they are the best and all done in beef dripping. My waist line is going too suffer way more than when I was in my lorry.

I’m so pleased for you. You really seem to have found your perfect position. Long may it continue!
Thank you, setting off now, first pickup is in Bridlington at 5.50 and it takes me 45 mins to get there, only downside to the job is at the beginning and end of the week with silly start times.
In case anyone is interested in following my journey, I put eerything daily on Twitter and my tag name is TheWanderingGazoo, lots of pics with my journeys and about my start in coach driving.
