Grabbed it with both hands

Yorkshire Tramper:
In case anyone is interested in following my journey, I put eerything daily on Twitter and my tag name is TheWanderingGazoo, lots of pics with my journeys and about my start in coach driving.

Firstly obviously either be very careful what you post or get permission.

Secondly, if you do both above, get on TikTok aswell and you’ll make a bit more out of it.

being thick do you have to have an account to use twitter it keeps asking me to sign up once i have seen the top two or three posts.

I would never have a social media account posting about my job (if I was still bus driving). I had a well angry passenger post my pic on Facebook with a completely fabricated version of events (this is when your thankful public transport has CCTV with sound inside and out EVERYWHERE including about 4-5 angles of the driver).
It escalated to my full name being posted and spelt correctly too and then death threats crept in. I called the police and between them and my company they got it pulled from social media. It’s evil and it’s full of idiots who believe everything anyone posts.

hope he does keep posting all about the new job here and on twitter.Refreshing to read something really positive

You would think he was doing it years, nice to read someone talking positively about a driving job even if it is only a new job
Does the tourist trade go on all year like is it busy off season

Great to hear you are enjoying it YT. Thought you would though with your good attitude towards people. Undoubtedly you will get the odd awkward passenger but just smile, don’t let them wind you up and laugh at them when they are not looking. It worked for me.

Enjoy.

I have really fallen in love with the job, had an awkward passenger last week a bit of a misery and always moaning about something. I tried my best to accomodate his moaning but then grew tired of it and concentrated my efforts on the rest of the passengers who were enjoying the time and places we visited. Had some really good reviews placed on social media sites and had some emails of grattitude to the company which boosts my confidence and gives you a lift. Never got that driving a lorry.

You will get the awkward ones, some people go on trips/holidays with the intention of claiming a rebate or a full refund. Just try to be positive with the normal passengers.

There’s different things at different times of year, for instance coming up in a few weeks you start getting the tinsel and turkey type tours.

In spring you get the school ski trips etc.

But mostly coach holidays are older types who don’t have to rely in planning around school hols for kids etc etc so it can go on all year round.

I can’t think how a passenger could possibly find “TheWanderingGazoo” I know he’s got photos of the coach company but without a reference to them, are image searches that clever?

How did it go this week YT?

Another great week, the Cotswolds is a fantastic place, especially loved Bourton on the water and stratford upon Avon. Monday I am at Durham, Holy Island, Beamish Museum, Alnwick Castle and Newcastle all on a 5 day holiday. The job just keeps giving!!!

My home area.

Do check the tide times to Lindisfarne, or you might have a lot of people swimming. Beamish is fabulous, and only around 3 miles from my birth town. Alnwick, (Pronounced Anick.) is Harry potter country. Find the Inn in the town centre with the bottles in the window and ask inside about the legend. Newcastle needs no introduction ye naa.

Ken.

Bloody hell Quinny, have they moved Beamish or Alnwick? I wouldn’t wanna walk the distance between them!

Oops! Punctuation punctuation punctuation. My bad     just spotted your full stop

Just read this from start to finish.
The best thing I have ever read on here, it is so refreshing to hear of someone enjoying their new vocation, it sounds great.
Well done to you for turning your life around, not many do, but when they do it is usually better.

All the best to you YT for now and the future, long may it continue.

And thanks.

Did a bit myself and worked with Amex…loved every minute…lived off my tips and bunces, and put my wages in the draw…was always booked in the hotel the same as the punters. Did some interesting trips too, places of interest…and wonderful sightseeing for free…always got the free meal in the services, and ate out the back, and served first too…carried a courier as well to do the talking bit…did private excursions too…extra money for us…but although it was many years ago, and times have changed, its basically the same…grab it with both hands…of course with a bit under your belt, you can move on to better companies and even National Express… good luck fella, at least you`ll be with better planners.

What’s good about national express? I would have thought that would exclude all the benefits of tips, hotels, sightseeing etc.

Go for the fish an chips at Beamish, best ever!

You was right, best chippy ever, they do something called dab and chips which is a small fish for £7.50p. To be honest the size was very similar to a regular fish.

Full permission from the company, they don;t mind as long as we dont give a bad impression of them. That is obviously not my intention.

Yes as posted by another on here, we go all year round and arrange tours to the season, xmas markets in Germany are particularly popular, shopping based tours and winter wonderland type themes. Lots going on and we are heavily subscribed on most winter and xmas tours.

Next weeks tour is Bournmouth and Royal Tunbridge wells, staying in a 4 star hotel for a bonus!!! 5 day tour of the area, will be posting all pics on twitter. As a Saturday job yesterday, I took the Leeds Rino team from Headingly in Leeds to Old Trafford in Manchester on our team bus. Was great job, got entry to the game included with my role as driver, Leeds Rino Vs St Helens challenge cup final. Unfortunately a solemn drive home as they Lost. There was only me smiling on the coach !!!

Do you know when you’ll get overseas with it?
