I am sure that the mod has records of who helped and who didnt. I am equaly sure that those that genuinly helped have come over. Just maybe those they didnt bring back were trying a fast one.
This whole scandal smells. labour suddenly discover this information dispite it happening for the last year. Allegedly the mod officer that leaked the information is still working for the mod with no shouting from labor. If the people on this list that have come here were not aiding the british forces maybe just maybe it was a list of those that applied and got turned down.
NATO sent in a peace keeping force a couple of years after the original US/UK led invasion.
About 150,000 UK troops rotated through Afghanistan but with a max of about the 12,000 you mention.
NATO peacekeepers were not seen in the same way as the invading forces, so their aides were not at such a great risk.
Over twenty years I reckon there would have been some turnover of aides. The US/UK allied Northern Alliance and Afghan National Forces would all have been targeted by the Taliban.
Recent figures have shown that Germany, Greece, France have accepted more Afghan refugees than the UK. Refugees from Afghanistan Given the recent news the UK figures might be up for revision.
