Got points on your car licence? Expect to see the TC then

I know its been covered on here before but I can’t find it, points collected on your car licence between renewing you truckie ticket will get you an appointment with the TC, we should all remember this, done for being caught on a hand held mobile my mate has had his licence suspended for two weeks even though it was 3 years ago and in his car, he paid the £60 and had 3 points on his car licence, came truck renewal time and it was automatically sent to the local TC to deal with before DVLA would issue the ticket. The TC told him that if he had been caught in the truck on a mobile it would have been a 28 day suspension of truck licence, 6 points and up to £2,500 fine.

Think on everyone!

So getting prosecuted twice for the same offence what a croc of sh17e

I reckon if it was challenged doing that would be ruled illegal

How many times has that comment been made with the usual reply that it is not being PROSECUTED twice for one offence but missing the reality that driving offences can AFFECT the basic licence and the extra responsibilty of driving a larger vehicle

The basic licence is dealt with by the court system and the higher categories by the TC which is something we all agreed to when we accepted the licences

We agreed to that in accepting the licence etc so that aint gonna happen

the court will simply say that it is our choice to acceot the terms and conditions

I don’t think he mean’t being done twice for it but look at it this way.

You get £60 3 points for speeding. 2 years later you then have a suspended license for the said offence from the TC. Now the bloke is being done twice for it for something he has already been dealt with for. I think it’s unfair treatment

I didn’t accept anything. i wasn’t shown or told that i am accepting anything. I paid for training and passed the training and got this pink thing in the post with my face on it. In no way was i told that the TC would be sleeping with my wife because i went over 1 Mph on a road 2 years a go.

That’s right, there’s no double prosecution at all.

3 years!

Missed the 3 year gap in the OP

That is silly because if their driving was that bad then it should be dealt with at the time IMO

AIUI technically you’re supposed to inform the TC as soon as you get the points; no-one ever does but it would prevent this “being done twice” highlighted above.

so you get caught in your car you have to inform the tc?

If the TC is responsible for vocational licence categories, and the DVLA for basic categories, WTF business has anybody got putting ‘truck’ points on your basic licence which then affect your car driving■■?

Either keep em separate or keep em together but for christ sake keep some consistency. If the TC decides truck speeding is worthy of a 2 week ban of HGV licence then this should not result in points which affect car entitlement, vice versa, any penalties obtained in the car should not affect your vocational entitlement (unless serious)
