Got my first HGV Job...

How the hell can something with a gearstick be a pleasure to drive!■■!

Good to hear you’re happy, seems you may have landed on your feet.

Luke the steering wheel attendant. (Thats me, not you!)

Lol, yeah that’s true Luke.

To be honest, I’m so glad I got job - I’m happy.

I think we are getting new ones towards end of the year, ideally with OptiCruise. Like your videos btw Luke, very inspirational. I have got myself a gas stove like yourself to cook my tea.

Thank you very much and great stuff. Self catering is the best. Can control your weight and no driving round looking for food. I’ve just this minute finished pork chops!

Has Bertie had his portion of pork chops?

Will keep a look out for various videos from yourself.

Out of interest, what do you use for internet and so on? I have been told I could end up being in europe for 2 - 3 weeks at a time so I’d like to get prepared providing everything goes ok.

Well Vodafone have just changed so for £3 a day you can take your home price plan abroad. Means I can stream radio 4 and 6 Music when over here within reason. And my bills have plummeted.

For a start, if they say probably, they mean deffinately! Do do be prepared,3 weeks away is a long time. Data roaming is expensive, if you can do without Internet all the better.
Cooking in the cab is ok, but after a long days work the last thing I want to go is start cooking. Food on the continent can be reasonable, French routiers are good value, so are takeaways. And German autohofs. If in Spain, it’s not hard to find a restaurant that does a set menu for a few euros and in Italy pizzerias ate everywhere you haven’t had a pizza till you’ve had one in Italy.

Just left Vodafone as it happens, as I got an iPhone 5 direct from Apple with a SimFree O2 deal. I will look around though I think for the best deal abroad, but £3 a day is excellent news.

Hope new truck is serving you well?

Yes the new truck is serving me extremly well thank you!

Yep, the usual 12. Times are hard though had to move to Tesco Value ones. He’s not impressed.

Generally on average mate, lads/lassies are taking home between £450-£600 per week, depending on where you live, there’s always exceptions to the rule, but thats about it in a nutshell…!

All seems reasonable to me.

Another busy day tomorrow

Sounds like you have landed on your feet there mate. Glad you are enjoying it and are keeping us updated. Good luck!

Al
