Fileep:
I had to ring the enforcement section at VOSA the other day, I got the information I required and at the end of the conversation I remembered this thread. I asked him ‘Can you take a full weekly rest(45 hours) in a truck?’, quick as a flash without thinking he said ‘No you cannot!’. He then went on to say about reduce rests blah blah blah. Simples, it against the law, whether this law is enforced is a different thing.

as for bringing this up on here, as long as its within the rules I’ll keep on, unless of course you’re a mod and feel like deleting it milodon, no? thought not
I’m sorry, I thought you had an issue you wanted to discuss, not just a topic you wanted to whine about ad nauseam
Getting back to the original post from ro trucker,he states that after ‘one and a half hours’ they came back to him with this charge.
It seems to me that if they’d been scrutinising his charts for that long and nothing untoward showed up,they were just looking for any old excuse to fine him.
I mean FFS,an hour and a half! For a fine of that amount I’d have been straight on the phone to the boss to send the money through,if not,let them impound the truck and I’ll take the train home.
I got pulled inside Rungis last year sometime, just pulled up outside the client to unload and a Peugeot 806 with blue light flashing swings in front of me,girl jumps out, shouts to me to switch off the engine and say’s she’s doing a control. The next thing she said was “Where are you going?” ‘Nowhere love,I’m here!’
A couple of years ago I’d been off sick for a few weeks, but didn’t start back to work until a week after I should have done.I was in northern Germany and got pulled by the Polizei for a check, everything okay, except the attestation letter had the wrong date on it,but the girl let me phone the office to have another one faxed through with the correct date,no problem.
Can’t see that happening in France.
Hi,GUYS
I’ve seen,I opened the pandora box, with this topic
It’s been appreciated all reply’s on this subject,I hope everyone from here, learn a lesson, from what I been trough. I still sustain, cause I been fined without reason. what is written on a paper is: missing tachos for the last three week-ends. Even if the mileage not been changed from the start of the week-end to the end of it,they was still claiming if I don’t have a attesation letter for the week-ends I need to pay the fined,to avoid all the hassle,(impounding the truck, missing the reload, making another “unhappy customer”,…).
What can we do!!!
I wish to everyone a, Happy Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!

Sounds like the lady Gendarme was trying to make a good impression to her work colleagues,or has just come out of training camp.
Without fail, when they stop me in France,i open the cab door, offer a firm hand shake, say bonjour monsieur, comment sallez vous aujourdoui,it works, less hasle, when you speak the lingo, you do not appear ignorant.
Most times,he will just stand up on the drivers step of the cab,and say, allez, bon route, depending if he got his leg over the night befoe with his Mrs.
Let me be pedantic for a mo
It’s - Comment t’allez vous aujourd’hui - oui means yes not today.
The French hate their language being spoken badly - so best not if you can’t drum up a bit of an accent. I can’t so i keep my gob shut as a rule!!!

I have always found the French prefer their language being spoken badly to not being spoken at all, even if you get it wrong, they like you to try a few silver plates and mercy bokoop’s.

Completely agree with Wheelnut on this one, whenever I have been stopped by the French Authorities they have been so amazed by the fact that I speak schoolboy French that they have completely overlooked my tachograph infringements.

+1
Attempting German in Germany, Italian in Italy and so on often has a similar effect.
Oh, and in France, if pulled by a Gendarme, start off with Bonjour Monsieur Gendarme rather than the straight Bonjour Monsieur.
Gendarme means Gentleman of Arms, like Man at Arms, it doesn’t mean policeman although they generally act in that capacity.

Yep gotta agree, if you make the effort they will overlook minor grammatical errors because you are trying and it lightens the mood somewhat
