I´m starting work tomorrow evening for Boyle Transport…
That means I´ll fly over from Dusseldorf to Glasgow to collect the truck.
Boyle´s even paying for that flight…
It´ll be european work. GB - D - I.
1 to 2 trips a week…
A mate of mine left us to go work for them!! He wants to come back now lol… but he was a lazy bugger and was work shy so that may have something to do with it
i have worked for pj boyle and after doing 15 years of fish to europe that man nearly broke me the work is hard the wages are trip money and you are welcome to it. if you feel tired stop, if you need to go home go, they wont offer you to stop or go home trust me.
Called them about a job and was quickly asked “are you one of these boys that only run 9 or 10 hours a day” decided i’d rather stay where i am for now.
they used to reload at the same groupage house as me in arluno(italsempione) on a friday night, the main difference being theyd be in bellshill on sunday morning :open_mouth: :open_mouth: ................ ALLEGEDLY ... and id be waking up with a hangover in carisio

When i spoke to the fella was told that you normally load Friday about mid-day in Milan and should be on the train Sat morning Unfortunatley people will and are doing it
Sorry some one is telling porkie-pies ,as i,ve sat here at home and
giveing them the benifit of doubt and saying 20hrs which is not really
long enough that makes it about 1400-1500hrs in calais but realisticly
I would say more like24hrs with out a 9-11rest break via MtBlanc-lyon–
luxemberg(to-fill-up)–namur–mons–lille–calais.By the use of the kombi-
train from NOVERA-ITALY to FREIBURG::GERMANY it may be possible
but you would have to go like the clappers with no delays and even then
I belive that you may go over your time, but perhaps we have a few of
those who go to freiburg–from calais for the train and they can say if it is posssible or not.
Last time i went to italy i went to Trieste, i left Deal in Kent with a clean card and after the 1st run of 9 hours got to the last services before you turn off to Geneva can’t remember if it was 44 or 41■■. My next 4 and 1/2 got me to Aosta services and that was on with no hold ups that i can remember and cruise set for 90 slowing only for Peages.
I can’t remember how long from Aosta to milan via 4/5 but it must be a good hour and 1/2, but discounting that bit it’s minimum of 13 and 1/2 driving from Deal to Aosta so with the minimum of 9 off thats 22 and 1/2 hours then you have to add the time from Milan to Aosta and then from Dover/Folkestone to Bellshill how ever much that is.

they might arrive at the groupage firm at midday linux… it was normally late evening when they departed … a typical italian “one hour mister ok”
You can do Frieburg to Calais in less than a 10, but I can’t remember if it was over 9 or not. The same, more or less to Zeebrugge for the ferry to Rosyth which is a 17 hour crossing, but it drops you about an hour from Bellshill.
On a trip when I used the Frieburg/Novara train both ways, I went across on the Saturday boat from Rosyth. Had an early start Monday morning. Caught the 13:30 train from Frieburg. Tipped Tuesday morning in Firenza and got back to Campogalliano. Reloaded on the Wednesday and onto the train back to Frieburg. Thursday was the run up to Calais. Friday I tipped and reloaded in England and Saturday I was home and dozing on the sofa. I couldn’t stay awake .
I have done Dover to Kirkcaldy in a 10, legally. Once. On a Sunday, with a very early start from Dover. I was passed Birmingham well before 8 o’ clock. Kirkcaldy is a little further from Bellshill than Rosyth so it is possible to do it in a 9, but you need to time it perfectly and to do it with no hold-ups. I doubt it can be done regularly.
Simon, which way do you go back to calais from freiburg … france.lux–b-f,
or just straight through france to the port, I would just like to say that I
have all ways thought that every one went via lux to re.fuel or stopped in
belgium if the queue was 2 long in lux. to top up as in france it is not that cheap. Due to the maut the side road in france from strasbourg down to
Basel (CH) is being used more and the LORRY checks are now more
frequent and so the speediy route is not as quick as it used to be,
lynux-user, can you tell us which way you go to italy and why that route.
and was you loaded with hazerdous or not and also fullyloaded to 40tn
WHY are you asking because I am all ways ready to learn new ways to
make my life less of a hardship when working and will use any means
that can make that possible , and if you require any tips for GERMANY
i will reply with as much correct information as I can,
The job´s ok, money is good and sometimes you´ve got to do a few hours more but I think that´s the job and most companies do it…
I´ve done 2 trips to Germany out of Glasgow area and kept my discs quite tidy so up to now it´s even better than the German companies I worked for…
I´ll load up in the morning don´t know for where exactly but even if it´s up north (GB) I´ll be empty on Tuesday. Reload Wednesday and run down the road again.
This was in November last year, so MAUT wasn’t an issue.
Out of Frieburg straight up to Offenburg, then crossing the border into France through Strasbourg. Up and round through the Haut Loire (?) and across towards Metz. North to Lux, filling up on the way through. Then towards Brussels,Charleroi, Mons, crossing the border into France at Lille and then onto the A25. Probably the route you would expect .
Hi Brit Pete, the route’s i used to take (am on UK only work now) obviously depended on loads etc but when i delivered research equipment to Trieste and had no drops on route i always went from on the 26 from Calais and followed all the way Macon then took the 44 or 40 (can’t remember which it was) signed Geneve and then through the Blanc. The reason this route was chosen was simply that the customer was prepared to pay for the tolls on the Peage.
When i went to pick the load up 3 weeks later i had a drop in Augsburg (which was perfect for me as my dad lives there ) so went what i call the top route i.e. up the corridor to bruxelles then pick up the ring for Luxumberg to top up the tanks then in through Saarbrucken Kaiserlauten Karlsruhe and along the oh so lovely 8 to Augsburg and after a good meal and beer at Murphys onto Saltzberg through Villach and back to Trieste.
I never carried Haz stuff as i don’t have haz licence but my oppo did and he went through Frejus as Blanc doesn’t (or didn’t) allow haz.
When we used to run to Naples for Alfa Romeo we basically had the choice of Blanc or Frejus as there really is no difference in time, i prefered Blanc simply out of preference and trying to get around Turin can be a bit of a bugger.
I was only running 26 tonners then not 40 tonners.
I did do it once by transiting Swiss but that was because i had a drop in bellinzona and that was a paperwork nightmare.
Hope that answers your questions Pete, if not please feel free to PM me anymore questions. I am away all week so won’t be able to answer until either late Friday or early Saturday.
