Just downloaded google maps on iPhone (free) apple had there own maps for a while but it was a shambles apparently.
Anyone else tried the new app ?
I’ve downloaded it but not had a decent play with them yet. I’m still using the old old maps before the update that killed them. I didn’t update and I’m glad I didn’t.
i use googlemaps on my S3 and prefer it to using the tomtom
It’s good but you can’t get street view on the app version or I haven’t worked out how to zoom in to it. So I have to keep using the web site version.

on my phone it automatically goes onto street view when you get to the street you want to be at

To get the street view on the iphone app, put in the postcode/address and bring up the map page, at the bottom of the screen is a white bar with the address written on it, pull this bar up and the street view option appears.

Pay for an app? The very thought brings me out in a cold sweat! 
Google Maps always worked fine on the iPhone 3GS! I did laugh when they bought out Apple Maps and forgot to include Stratford-Upon-Avon! Thats the reason I will never go back to an Apple portable device. The only Mac you will find in my collection is the latest MacBook Air, when I can finally afford it!
Get a good truckers atlas and a reasonable trucknav and you wont go wrong. Using google maps sounds good, but when you get it wrong, it can go spectacularly wrong.

How do you get streetview on maps+ ■■
On your map screen there is an icon on bottom, next to Route 66 logo, tap on that and it tells you how to get street view on both apple maps, and google… On the top left hand of screen is a square with lines on, this lets you choose which maps provider you want to view… Let me know if you if you can do it, if not I’ll send you more info…
Is this the app ? Because I can’t see anything you mentioned ■■
