Goodbye everyone

Take care have a great time all the best for what the future holds and stay safe

Tim.

At the age of 30yrs I found myself in a similar position as the OP, I was made redundant, with no ties, I sold my car and bounced around the world for 3yrs, mainly SE Asia, Australia, New Zealand & India.
I even managed (even at 30yrs) to get a 1yr student Australian work permit. Which I was allowed to re-use due to having left Oz for a short time.
I was in Vietnam when they 1st started to relax the visa restrictions and the 1st tourists started to arrive, though it was more like skegness before they built Butlins.
staying in a slum hotel in Agra, only yards from the Taj mahal with views to die for.
I watched them building the Endevour replica ship in Freemantle, then see it sail into Sydney months later.
£30k lighter I was faced with the choice of making the final leap to migration to Oz … but didn`t :frowning:

Go for it, youll never regret it, the only advice Ill give is never get totally drunk that your safety is compromised, try to avoid the student Backpacker haunts (they steal form each other) & go mix with the natives, its a far better experience, and above all, when you meet someone for the 1st time pluck up the courage to say “hello” because once you do that people begin to talk.
I would love to head

Do NOT become a Peru 1 :open_mouth:

Travel light. You can buy what you need on arrival.I did not take a suit case.Just a small ruck sack that went on the plane as hand baggage. No need to queue at check in.
Clothes are cheap over there.Expect minor stomach and bowel upsets.Lasts 24 hours.Projectile vomiting and the trots.Delhi Belly.
Hand steriliser and baby wipes a must.
If you have seen Banged up abroad on tv;Beware of strangers.
Never leave the drink unattended. No offence but men can drug drinks and ■■■■ tourists. And women may rob
when distracted or drunk.

All the best for whatever comes your way.
Couple of years retired and spent half a lifetime wishing I had done things differently. You have the chance not to make the same mistake.
Take plenty of photos- they’ll jog your memory when you get to my age!

Good luck FB, sounds like its going to be an Adventure. Stay Safe & keep Little FB covered up when he’s out Playing !

I am 71 and have had a great life but I still wish I was going with you.
Have a great time, enjoy yourself son and stay safe.

Safe travels & enjoy seeing the world…

Good Luck and take care FB and remember (Lets be careful out there.

good luck, if i was young again thats exactly what i would do, even try a bit of trucking in australia

Best wishes mate.
The UK will still be here and the same when you get back.
Trust no one, except the dutch.

Have fun :sunglasses:

I used hostelbookers.com for cheap rooms.Maybe share with up to 20 in a dormitory.
Or a single room on your own.At these places, fellow travelers offer great advice of what to see and do.Places to avoid.
The latest street scams and con artists.
Low booking deposit on line then pay up on arrival. In the Uk,ask somebody to photocopy the passport and other documents. They can fax the details in case of loss or theft.
Bank card phone numbers to record.Blood group to record.
Take expired bank cards and small amounts of cash while out at night so if mugged hand over useless cards so they think they have something.
A mosquito net is a must.Check for holes.Never buy drinking water bottles that are not sealed.Avoid ice cubes and salads.Rehydration sachets are handy.

I wish you the very best but also don’t think your 14k is going to last as long as you think it will, be prepared my friend :exclamation: Being stranded on the other side of the world with no money is no joke and you can’t just arrive in Australia or any other country and expect to be given a work permit. Remember Argentina is not very Brit friendly.
All the same, safe travels and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Good decision! As others have said, keep in touch. Make sure you buy a white suit for the Argentine!

We’ll always have Lymm! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

FarnboroughBoy11:
Just thought I would say my goodbyes as on Monday I’ll be leaving heathrow on a one way ticket.
I had a few options at the start of the year and it was either, put a deposit down on a flat, buy a truck and start up on my own or to go backpacking and see a bit of the world, and with 14k saved and no ties I chose the latter.
I’ve had a good 4 years at it, got as much experience as I can and was lucky enough to drive a V8 that was only a year old for my company for over a year.
I don’t like the way the industry is run , there is just so much bull [zb] and pettiness it’s unbelievable, maybe I will change as I get older and just accept that it takes over 6 hours to load or tip a trailer but for now things like that I cannot agree with, and that’s just a tiny splash in the ocean compared to everything else that’s also wrong with transport at the moment. Just my opinion of course but I hope things change.

So now at 25 a bit of an adventure awaits, so it’s Bangkok on Monday then I have until February to make my way down to Malaysia where I’ve got a flight booked to Argentina on a one way ticket. I plan to travel around South America drifting to where ever I fancy, there is no time factor, there is no route, there is no plan although I do want to get into Brazil for the World Cup at some point, when my funds start getting low Im thinking Australia for a working visa and then who knows, whatever happens I don’t want to be back here in this repetitive hole of a society.
I hope people haven’t taken me too seriously on here in my time, it’s been a good laugh and good luck to everyone with big respect.
Adios amigos!!

Good luck and best wishes old lad. You’ll do just grand I’m sure and should you ever return then most of us will probably still be here.
Buen Viaje!!
