Passed two artics going the other way on A47 single carriageway today. Both with extended trailers with large pipes on the back. Both one behind the other. Both same companies. No ■■■■■■ so not a special load.
In my view they should have been apart allowing other road users to pass. Do you agree or disagree
Poor driving. Just the selfish types that we see doing the same now and again. No consideration for other road users.
Two more drivers giving lorry drivers a bad name.
I completely agree with the OP…dogs**t driving. I see it all the time on the B1225 from Immingham to Horncastle. 2 or 3 wagons nose to tail making it even more dangerous for quicker vehicles to pass. Just common sense to leave enough space for somebody to duck in when overtaking, otherwise you might get involved in a smash you could do without. If I’m fully freighted on that road I often pull in a layby and let quicker wagons pass if there’s a line forming behind me. Cost me a few seconds and probably saves their blood pressure!!

Surprised you have missed the safety angle. If they are two drivers from the same firm they will almost certainly need to have a race. From a safety point of view, for other motorists, it is better if they don’t get stuck between them.

Hate that road! Had a tanker overtake me on a bend, and I was doing 50

Why do you think that because they had no ■■■■■■ that the load wasn’t special? You can move some loads with out ■■■■■■ as long as it’s notified and do as the letter of the movement order says and I that says you run along the a47 in convoy then that is watching you do.

so how close were they and at what speed ?
It has always puzzled me why some drivers do this; a couple of weekends ago I was travelling down through northumberland on the most beautiful of sunny sunday mornings, roads were quiet and as always north northumerland is a joy to drive through. I followed a couple of artics (same company) for a little while, they were both pretty much sitting on their limiters but they did look close, when we come to one of the dual sections I passed them, seriously I doubt there wouldn’t have been a trailer length between them, 56mph 40’ gap the obvious dangers aside, why would anyone wish to put themselves through that much stress, there was virtually nothing else on the road … I would have been hanging quarter of a mile behind with cruise on enjoying the drive.

You were doing what others should do but unfortunately some do not seem to perceive these situations very well. I doubt they get stressed by the situation as they think it is normal and safe. They think if anything happened they could cope.(that is if they do think) They do it everyday and nothing has ever gone wrong so how could anything possibly go wrong now.
They are like all the others that are up in truck heaven or severly handicapped through their own stupidity.
They will learn the hard way when one day there will be a big BANG then silence.
