Nope it’s not. Two vehicles cannot make a convoy and a proper convoy is controlled with proper separation distances.
heres another point, maybe when they started they had 5 miles between them but in that 5 miles the first truck encountered a tractor or two allowing the second truck too catch up to the first
what difference does it make - so 2 standard trucks follow each other that’s wrong too then?
unless they were crawling along then yes maybe stupid or ignorant but either way they have paid road tax etc. so have the right to use the roads the same as anyone else. and car drivers will still think they were pricks even if they left a gap.
There is no reason not to leave a long gap so that smaller quicker vehicles can pass by leap-frogging

having seen some of the stupid risks car drivers take to get by trucks ROG I have to disagree, unless as I said crawling along - if the gap was safe then hey ho that’s life leave more time for your journey.

That seems to say that you favour the trucks preventing others from overtaking so acting as SARPs 
As most LGVs can do 50 and cars 60 on SCs then there is probably not much to be gained by passing in the first place
It’s not a case of speeds it’s a case of common courtesy and forward thinking what other road users might do if you drive like a couple of pricks
