Whilst pootling around in my 54 seat people carrier,
Are you sure ? My people carrier seats 7 !
I drive a 57 seat people carrier
Ive driven Renault Premiums, one on a 57 plate and the rest were 58 plates and they werent too bad to drive…
Indeed. There is afterall more than one kind of people carrier, and it’s not just a car. Not sure when ERF/RAF understood you were talking about coaches If at all

Shrewd buy the premuims turned out to be saw a goldstar premium broken down on the m20 near swanley for best part of today
That’s easy for them, they’ll just blame the driver, I know someone who worked there for 2 months without an issue, different truck broke down and and it’s goodbye.
Don’t blame their own servicing schedules or crappy trucks!
I remember driving the renault g290…what a nail, supposed to be on boxes…but put 2 of us on concrete sections from Mansfield to Hastings, the sections were for a sea defence bore hole…as a lot of you know last 40 miles into Hastings its a drag, this pig was down to 1st gear on some of the hills …nightmare…a week in that was enough for me, premiums are a big leap from then , those things wouldnt pull ya coat out the wardrobe .
Whilst pootling around in my 54 seat people carrier, i spotted a brand new Goldstar Renault Premium…bit different to the normal Megaspace’s, XF’s and Globby’s you see on box work.
shuttlespanker:
rumour has it that one Goldstar driver was so miffed at being given a Premium, he phoned VOSA to ask if it was legal to be tramping all week in one
That was the first thought i had…wonder how they would be for a week away?
Must be a bit of harsh move from a XF to one of them!
and just to not although they are not the biggest cabs in the world i found the one i had more than adeqate even spent 3 weeks in one got bounced loaded barnsley up to northern holland swapped machines over down to angoleme in france dropped that off sat for 2 days waiting for another motor to come from scotland unloaded and installed that back to uk loaded brum for dublin spent weekend in dublin reloaded same machine and deliver install that to madrid was there three days then home
gonzothejaffa1:
didn’t they have premiums when they started out ?
Ha … 3 weeks … thats nothing, i was once away 6 WEEKS running back and forth to Spain in a 365 twingo … gutless / no aircon . Every time i got back in the U.K, it was “there’s this load just come up … can you just reload and go back down”.

i saw 60 premiums in their woolpit depot last week, and in their felixstowe yard they have about 40 mercs and man’s.
they are also extending their felixstowe office too. so to me they look like expanding.
I was talking to a Goldstar driver last week, and apparently the premiums are going to the middle east. goldstar have a contract lugging linen and cottons for Europe, worth 25 million a year. Don’t bother applying, the driver’s will earn 100 dollars a month.
Why premiums? you may ask! …the aircon is useless and the doors are easy to rip off

The screens leek
The heaters fail (not important in the middle east)
The fuel gauges fail
The mirrors don’t work
Seat’s are about as comfortable as a 70’s Triumph
etc etc etc etc
etc etc etc etc
etc etc etc etc
Remember when i worked for Goldstar Felixstowe, had the assessment and Angus told me that it was one of the best drives he’s had for a couple of years (probably says it to everyone ) then all i got was Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, Central London, so promptly left

All the Premiums I’ve driven since 53 plate, have never had any of those problems.
However, drivers doorlocks do fail if used as manual, but they’re remote now so that’s not an issue really, and I would advise anyone having one to fit window defelctors, as there is no protection when using the wash/wipe.
