Had a driver come for an interview yesterday. He told us he left his last job because he just couldn’t get on with the shift pattern and it affected every aspect of his life in a not good way. We asked what the shift pattern was he had been working and what he described was exactly the same as we were offering, give or take half an hour. On being told this he said that wouldn’t be a problem and could he give it a go. The answer contained 2 letters, not 3.
Dav1d:
Someone VOR’d a 7.5 at ours as the ■■■ lighter wasn’t working.
Made no attempt to check the fuse either. (it was the fuse)
One driver wouldn’t take a motor cause he had a headlight bulb out. We have a drawer full of them in the office, the rest of us seem to be able to change one in under 5 mins. He asks for DAFaid.

I should have added, I’ve shown him twice, one of the other lads have shown him twice to my knowledge, he’s just a lazy ■■■■ who would rather the firm pay up and have a motor stood than roll his fat arse sleeves up and change a bulb. Boils my ■■■■!

Oh right i see, well that speaks volumes really doesnt it… He should be glad he’s on for a company that lets you do this kind of thing as most dont want you going anywhere near the unit to fix something.
hitch:
sometimes the only way to get jobs done is use the defect book
even when the truck is runnable
Fair point but where I work the gaffer is great, he lets us do what we want with the trucks. He knows that those of us who do what. Have to, A: save a fortune, B: keeps wheels turning and C: he knows we look after them to a really high standard.

After happily reading this I can see why your contributions have dropped off slightly…

I do apologise, the lunatics have taken over the asylum.
I know we dont have to be a bloody rocket scientist to drive or repair some truck or other but for christ sake lets at least get folk into the job who can tie their own shoe lace.
Its just getting bloody ridiculous now!
Half the buggers driving trucks now should be pushing a bloody brush!
You would think that this sort of thing would make the other drivers look good, But the truth is, We get tarred with the same brush.
The can’t do, Won’t do attitude has increased due to the nanny state, over zealous regulations, and over zealous inforcement by companies that interperate rules and regs to there own demise. Some employees are so worried about getting into trouble, They do the same as the company and interperate rules in an over zealous way themselves.
I’d love to go into some of these places with a big brush and sweep this dead wood away.

some struggle because the bristles get in their face.
Last month an agency driver was told to take an empty trailer to a collection in Heckmondwike. So he bypasses all the straight frames and takes a step deck, goes down Station Lane in Heckmondwike and smashes straight into the low bridge. His excuse was he didnt realise it was a step deck and also the height marker in the cab said 13ft 9.
Weird thing is, he was back at ours working this week.
