Hi Chaps, I’ve only just spotted this topic

I did both days (only a few) and (mostly) nights for Gloystarne when I was on agency work back in 2002ish, but I worked outbased at Deeside.
The loads were all for supermarket ‘own brands’ out of Cereal Partners, Bromborough, or were from the warehouse where we parked in Deeside Ind Est.

I did trailer swops to/from Yate on days and nights and full-load deliveries to Tesco, Magor and ASDA at Lutterworth and Chepstow.
I also seem to remember going to Hirwaun, but I think I only went there once.

IIRC, the trucks were MANs as in the pics posted by revman and were on a ‘P’ or ‘R’ plate.

hi chris the bloke was definitely called tony reaney and he was definitely dead lampost pushed him through back of cab into trailer

Hi Gaz my mate was talking to Tony Reaney yesterday and he told him he had his accident out side “Brookshaws” on West Bar through the prop shaft dropping off at the front end and they rebuilt the wagon and about a year later another driver called Tony was driving the same wagon and had the exact same thing happen to him at the same spot and he did not make it as you said before but that is a lot of coincidences there is no wonder that we got things mixed up being that it was over 30 years ago as well and I know there was a bad camber on that piece of road out side Brookshaws. The odds on that happening to the same wagon on the same piece of road and both drivers called Tony must be astronomical and only about a year apart. I hope this helps to clear things up.
cheers Johnnie

Hi Johnnie,I wonder if that was Tony Reaney’s wagon I saw about 5.00am when I was coming off nights. It was just past Brook Shaws near that bad camber and leaning on a lampost. It would have been in the early 80s.
